When did WFMU get so weird
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
Dan Bodah:

Good evening to the finest listeners a radio station could hope for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
Rich in Washington:

Kenzo, is it true that you're coming back for the summer, or did I hallucinate it?
Avatar 7:13pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

We both did, and I think it's true. Wednesdays 5-7pm on Give the Drummer Radio, starting, somehow, this week.

Wow!

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I was on Kenzo's. You have to guess when.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh my god. This is amazingly weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Webhamster Henry:

I was wondering if you were actually going to play this this episode.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Rich in Washington:

Dan, have you ever played The Kipper Kids on this show?
Avatar 7:19pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The power of Christ compels you to leave this squirrel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
Dan Bodah:

@Rich, tell me about the Kipper Kids, I do not know of them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Dan Bodah:

@Kenzo, great news!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Rich in Washington:

Amazing performance artists from the 70s/80s. with bizarre guttural vocalizations. Look 'em up on Ubuweb and check out 'Singing'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Brian Routh still makes bizarre audio art and the other Kipper married Bette Midler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Dan Bodah:

Wow, thanks! I see the page on Ubuweb, will definitely check those out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
Rich in Washington:

The Kippers were known for their naked, often scatalogical performances but their vocal stuff is really Vocal Fry worthy, IMO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
Rich in Washington:

WFMU and Drummer stream are just getting more and more amazing by the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
Webhamster Henry:

Check out their bits in THE FORBIDDEN ZONE.

Dean:

Love the Kipper Kids. Saw them a handful of times. They knew how to make an entrance, usually with explosives or power tools.

For vocal oddities, check out Shura Gehrman's recitals on his own Nimbus label. For example, Arie Antiche: http://www.norpete.com/v2386.html

Gehrman (born Numa Labinsky) had a deeply held theory of voice, and he spent his later years trying to recover his "first voice." He believed singers destroyed their voices by, inter alia, drinking too much milk.
  7:27pm
Dean:

Interesting Kipper Kids datum: One of them, Harry Kipper (as opposed to the other one, Harry Kipper), is married to Bette Midler and used to trade commodities out of his office in Santa Monica. He even had a locally broadcast television show about trading.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Webhamster Henry:

Also, don't miss Shelley Hirsch on Ridgewood Radio, Give the Drummer Stream, Wednesday 3Pm right before Kenzo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Kat in Chicago:

Disco Duck is the only DD vocal that comes to my mind just now
  7:31pm
Dean:

Oops. Rich already made the Midler connection @7:22. They were married even while the KKs were performing. Midler appears in a video easily located on YT.
Avatar 7:31pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Heil in Hitler's Face' w/ DD?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Rich in Washington:

The other Kipper was married to Karen Finley, so, imagine that.
There's also a good, cleaned up for family entertainment, performance by them on the Bette Midler cable special Mondo Beyondo.
Avatar 7:32pm
mb:

hello Dan Bodah. Listening on an old radio with lots of highs and mids. Sounding good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Kat in Chicago:

The other Kipper married Karen Finley? I missed that! Knew about Bette.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Rich in Washington:

My wife, who's a Bette fan, bought that special on VHS, not knowing what it was. There's some pretty peculiar, albeit dated performance art on it, but the Kippers sort of freaked my poor sweetie out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Rich in Washington:

Brian's now married to a digital artist/Uni professor and lives in Yorkshire (I think).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Dan Bodah:

I like the idea of Karen and Bette hanging out together
  7:38pm
Dean:

The other one is Martin von Haselberg.
  7:40pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

Hello dan and friends. I am making steaks and potatoes and asparagus today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
Rich in Washington:

I gather they are somewhat estranged from one another nowadays, The Kipper Kids, I mean.
Avatar 7:42pm
Cheyenne:

Enjoyin these here mellow vibez, Dan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Dan Bodah:

@BB, hi! @RR, I don't know the "Heil in Hitler's Face" song but I'll have to look. I don't necessarily need songs with the copyrighted character DD, just songs with vocals in that style...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Dan Bodah:

@Dean, thanks for the Shura Gehrman reference. I will check it out. Sounds akin to Alfred Wolfsohn a bit.
Avatar 7:44pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Probably a SpikeJones that Disney did a toon of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Dan Bodah:

Ah yes, I need to dig out the vocal moments of note from Spike's ouvre!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Webhamster Henry:

If you can dig up more Billy Costello, the original voice of Popeye, aka Red Pepper Sam, I'd appreciate it. Jack Mercer, the more usual voice of Popeye is also good, but I don't think he sang anything but Popeye tunes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Webhamster Henry:

"Der Führer's Face" is part of "Donald Duck in Nutzi Land"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Webhamster Henry:

OK, we now need helium sygyt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm

Here ya go en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm

Great suggestions all! Thanks.
