A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

there's gotta be a simple solution to this bird thing. i reckon i could figure it out
Avatar 9:42am
Itzall Ablurr:

The problem at Kingsland is a crisis of (lack of) imagination, and action. Sonic devices could be installed to emit CONSTANT predatory calls which would frighten away any bird approaching the area. This has been done to great results in cities experiencing the "pigeon problem". It absolutely deters them from going anywhere NEAR the origin point of the disturbing sounds.

that's a good one, or i was thinking if you couldn't make the flare visible, you could erect a sparse metal scaffolding structure surrounding the flare tower which would prevent birds getting close enough to the flare to be injured

Passaic River Blues:

@Trouble-n-Co.: that story is demoralizing. There are so many obstacles we create for birds on top of habitat loss and introducing environmental toxins. Every year I see dead warblers on sidewalks around town in the spring and fall. Last fall I tried to save a lady Northern Parula that had apparently struck an office building window on Raymond Blvd. but I failed. But, as Itzall suggested, this Kingsland methane problem may have a potential partial solution in auditory signals (hard to say if it would be effective for all species at all times, but seems like it would certainly mitigate to a great degree).

And don't even get me started on Trump's tax plan. Next time some NJ finance bro starts shouting about the virtues of Trump's tax plan, ask them what they think about the proposal to eliminate/reduce the state and local tax payment deductions, which will slam many NJ homeowners and serves no purpose other than to slightly offset the insanely huge cuts for the super-wealthy. Or ask them why when Reagan and Bush II applied these fallacious Laffer Curve principles it resulted in massive deficits and not magically increased revenue. They've tried this shit as long as I've been alive and it never fucking works.

Could it be the GOP who blocked the Veterans Job Corps Act in 2012, who voted against the Military Retirement Pay Restoration Act in 2014, and then again voted to reduce mental health and educational benefits this past October? Good morning Trouble and Troubladours. Stopped by to comment on the fantastic music, and got a tax and policy chat as a bonus! Stay on your reps, folks.

Clinton outspent Trump almost 2 to 1 and still couldn't pull it off. So the office doesn't always go to the highest bidder

Our office is closing early tomorrow so we can all go to a springtime happy hour up the street. So at 4pm I'm gonna be all "See everybody at the bar!" <pulls hat down, walks in opposite direction, jumps on L train>

Army of Shadows... that is something no one should miss. See it on the big screen, not at home on your computer..its a bit of history. Harsh reality, gorgeously written and shot.

Trouble, thank you ! I am packing to leave Atlanta. Finished teaching this semester at Georgia Tech. Flying back to Mexico City this afternoon. Your two suggestions Pasaquan pasaquan.columbusstate.edu and Atlanta Contemporary Art Center atlantacontemporary.org... have been highlights of my time in Atlanta. Thank you ! -Mark

Any fans of cool artistic women planning a trip to Rochester can visit the graves of Lee Morse and Louis Brooks. Cemeteries are across the street from each other. RIP to both.

In the 90s Brazilian Octopus album was the most sought after bootleg in Sao Paulo. I remember How excited I was when I finally got a copy. Finally somebody reissued it!

Fuck this Anthony Lane! Just fuck that shit, just totally sucker punch that guy. Okay he writes for the New Yorker, great: DON'T READ IT! he gives away the main plot line every single time, what a bitch-ass. That is NOT criticism. Sorry dude, you suck. Sure, go to the films as Trouble says , you needn't look further than her good word . Anthony lane sux. as a critic, he is a "SPOILER ALERT-a-Hole". Any questions?
