Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from December 23, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

*Maximum volume"

What?
Avatar 🛒 Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Parq:

Irwin followed the late John Narucki on the schedule at one point. John's theme was Willie. While Irwin digs Zappa, he is not a fan of Willie. Worse, John played it on a cheap cassette, and it sounded cheap. He'd hand it to Irwin each week with a big grin and say "You know the drill!". You'll find the story in more detail here:

Alex, let's get philosophical. Do they mean the loudest volume your speakers can take, or do they mean crank that volume dial all the way clockwise and damn the consequences?

John Narucki was the first FMU dee jay I ever met in person. He was at a now-gone NJ club, known as the Dirt Club (As they say, you could look it up.) I said to him that he looked exactly like the way I pictured him based on his on-air voice. He smile broadly and told me that he didn't know whether to thank me or tell me to fuck off.
