La Yegros: Futuristic Cumbia and Chamamé from Buenos Aires

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

Buenos Aires has had a thriving electro-cumbia scene for over a decade, radiating from the Zizek club and then the ZZK record label. But it was mostly a boys club until La Yegros stormed onto the scene with her debut album Viene de Mi in 2013.

La Yegros has as great new album out, Magnetismo (Soundway/Waxploitation), which on top of giving a charge to cumbia also re-imagines the traditional chamamé style of northeastern Argentina.
