Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 28, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

The Sandpipers remind me of a spoof band in Boston in the late 70s that called itself The Beatles Costello. In the liner notes to their one single "Washing the Defectives", it was noted that their manager hoped to make them bigger than the Sandpipers. Trailer Park Records is a weird outfit. Could never find any info on them online, their own site, etc.. Only through distributors like Norton. I suspect it's due to the semi-legit nature of their compilations.
I bought a bunch from my (now shuttered) favorite record store for really cheap - the CDs appear hand-made, with paste on labels. I don't know if that's just how they started out, or if someone was actually bootlegging their releases. On CD didn't even have a CD in it. Pretty weird.
