Abilene, Texas is not on the coast - it's about 150 mi. west of Fort Worth.

  4:31pm Al:

Tolpuddle Martyrs - An interesting piece of British/Australian history. Just read about it on Wikipedia.

Man...The Seekers....I'll Never Find Another You....that track will be in my head ALL DAY now!! Thanks Bill! Always amazing playlist!
  1:27am John from CDA:

Bill, I have done my assignment in finding out who were the real Tolpuddle Martyrs. They were six agricultural laborers from Dorset County, UK, who resisted low wages by unionizing, and for that, they were arrested, convicted, and deported to the penal colony of the island of Australia. Also, the song "Tall Paul" was actually about "Donna Reed Show" co-star Paul Peterson.
  9:57am BK:

@John from CDA...Wow! I had never heard about the Paul Peterson connection to that song. Grazie.
  11:35am Wastelandeteer:

Paul Peterson was a 1955-56 Mouseketeer, and in the Donna Reed Show 1959 he was only 15 yrs old

"Tall Paul" was about Annette's dating Paul Anka, 5'6" says the interweb
  11:46am Wastelandeteer:

"Annette recorded 'Tall Paul' after Paul Anka wrote 'Puppy Love' for Annette Funicello while they were dating."
  11:58am Wastelandeteer:

Her first husband, 1965-1981, was Paul Anka's agent
  9:48am Eric von Zipper:

Aww, you remembered Annette's birthday. You, I like. Songfacts says she recorded an album of Anka songs. You should read her bio.

Jack Gilardi, 6', became an agent out of booking entertainment in the army. Then he hung out with me and Frankie Avalon at the clubs and softball fields.
  1:28am John from CDA:

I stand corrected.
