Belock is back from the beach! Boardwalk was extremely crowded last night. I swam in the ocean w/a few WFMU listeners.

  1:34pm melinda:

I like that, Ken.
  1:35pm Amy:

Really digging this 1-800-Band song, though that's a terrible band name.
Avatar 1:35pm Joe B:

greetings everyone who has chimed in since the first greeting! thanks for tuning in/checking in, appreciate it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Power Papi:

@Amy--I agree. Death By Unga Bunga is another great band with a crap name
Avatar 1:41pm Todd-o-phonic:

The people's champ is not relinquishing his crown anytime soon!
Avatar 1:41pm Todd-o-phonic:

@Amy & Power Papi: Most of the good names are taken!
  1:43pm Amy:

@Todd Maybe, but they can do better than 1-800-Band.
Avatar 1:51pm Cheri Pi:

Heya Joe, I haven't forsaken you!
Avatar 1:59pm KP:

I was there! What a scene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, melinda. It just popped into my head.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:04pm ChrisB.:

I was at that CSNY show in Roosevelt Stadium. Graham Nash: "Nixon resigned, man!" Then they play Ohio. I had a ticket, and was fired from my job for taking the night off.
Avatar 2:05pm Joe B:

my uncle was there too. he said he didn't remember anything about Nixon or any of that, just that the gates were suddenly open and they walked in for free
Avatar 2:07pm Wild Neil:

I saw CSN (no Y) at the New York State Fair in 86 or 87...geez, did somebody in CSNY die????
  2:07pm Tommy:

I think he let Stills take that first solo , not sure what Crosby and Nash's contribution was on this
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:08pm DonJuanTijuana:

enjoying this CSNY double shot
Avatar 2:08pm Lewis:

Strictly discs in Madison had a vinyl copy of On The Beach in their most recent vinyl dump. I love this album.
Avatar 2:09pm Joe B:

Nash on wurlitzer piano, crosby on the rhythm guitar, quite audible. probably the best example of stills and young guitar interplay besides the down by the river at Big Sur
Avatar 2:11pm Wild Neil:

Its a shame The Mothers didn't play Woodstock...
Avatar 2:12pm geezerette:

There's another hour! almost. YAY!
  2:16pm johnk77:

that sf comp
love is the song we sing
is great
barry melton probably still
one of the coolest and most fun
people in california
though sadly i haven't talked to him
in about 5 years
lawyer, fish-founder, lead player
Avatar 2:16pm Wild Neil:

Woodstock band lineup, for those who are interested....its kinda cool to see some less-known names there...www.woodstock.com...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Stevel:

Anyone seen Tommy Stinson recently? He's actually coming through Fort Wayne next week. I feel much better about missing him last weekend when I was in Madison.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Michael 98145:

French Kinks!
  2:22pm Amy:

I vaguely remember hearing Petula covering the Kinks in French when I was a kid, though I had forgotten that until just now. It's awesome.
Avatar 2:22pm Wild Neil:

Clicky star for French Kinks sung by British (??) actress...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Michael 98145:

i certainly do not remember this
Avatar 2:26pm Todd-o-phonic:

I don't think Irma Thomas complained about you not playing Swamp Dogg.
Avatar 2:28pm Wild Neil:

The Higher State is great ! I will clicky star them!
Avatar 2:28pm geezerette:

Wild Neil, great link! Thanks for posting! :)
Avatar 2:30pm Joe non Papa:

Joe - There is a 40th anniversary of a major event. Per Dan Epstein's FB page, it's the 40th of the infamous White Sox shorts uniforms.
Avatar 🎸 2:30pm acid casualty:

@ wild neil, that is a cool site! Can't believe Jimi did 19 songs and who did 24! Also, can you imagine the Dead sandwiched between Mountain and CCR?
Avatar 2:33pm Joe B:

i saw that Joe! maybe will play the royal teens in honor of that
Avatar 2:34pm Wild Neil:

@Geezerette and acid Casualty (lol!)-you're welcome and thanks! Actually, thank google...interestingly , it is unclear on what time of day some bands went on, but it was FORTY SEVEN YEARS AGO! I wonder whatever happened to some of the "lesser" bands! Jimi played on a Monday after "most people went home"....
  2:42pm johnk77:

for more psychedelix history
a barry melton site

  2:42pm melinda:

Husky Team was great.
  2:46pm Amy:

I liked that Higher State song so much that I bought their record on Bandcamp. Joe's shows almost always cost me money, but then again they expand my record collection.
Avatar 2:47pm cee:

great show!
Avatar 2:49pm geezerette:

Wild Neil,I met someone who was there. I asked her what it was like and she said there were so many cars on the way up, and such chaos, and anyway it looked like rain, that she and her boyfriend turned around and drove back to NY! She
went to Woodstock but missed the music!
Avatar 2:52pm geezerette:

Great show Joe B.! Thanks for it!
Avatar 2:54pm Wild Neil:

@Geezerette-I forgot where I heard it but I heard the NY State Thruway actually shut down! With that many people there are gonna be a couple babies born, a couple people die and some other thing that happens in cities of that size...what was it, a MILLION people or something?? Ok, "only" 400,000. Still!
Avatar 2:56pm geezerette:

haha,pretty insane! Glad there's a movie.
Avatar 2:57pm Joe B:

thanks everybody, appreciate it! see you next week
  2:57pm Amy:

Great last set!
