Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Charlie:

Carmichael -- where'd you see them?
Avatar 12:09pm Carmichael:

In Sacramento, as part of their Roger The Engineer tour.
  12:09pm Listening Out There:

Yardbirds are supposed to be through our fair West Coast city soon...
Avatar 12:10pm ndbob:

afternoon Charlie and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Charlie:

Hi ndbob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Charlie:

Who is playing in these Yardbirds of whom you people speak?
Avatar 12:11pm Mayuko:

Greetings! Can't comment much but listening!
  12:13pm Listening Out There:

Charlie ---> From club site: While The Yardbirds were once an all-British outfit, the current lineup is four-fifths American with McCarty the Englishman in the band. In addition to McCarty vocals, drums, The Yardbirds are now comprised of John Idan on guitar and lead vocals ( on critically acclaimed 2003 Birdland Album ), Johnny A on guitar( Peter Wolf, Bobby Whitlock), bassist Kenny Aaronson ( Bob Dylan, Billy Idol), and Myke Scavone vocals, blues harp, and percussion. ( singer Ram Jam, Doughboys )
Avatar 12:14pm Mayuko:

I immediately recognized that "go to the window" since I watched that film so many times when I was little!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Uncle Michael:

Charlie, I need you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Jeff Golick:

Great. relatively unheralded Pere Ubu record here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Charlie:

Uncle Michael and Jeff G! Now we've got a GTDR posse going.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm schmutz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Charlie:

hey, schmutz! welcome. wow, pere ubu are always great to see! saw them many moons ago, i think at the old knitting factory in nyc...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Jeff Golick:

Saw Pere Ubu at a club in NYC that was more known for Phish-like shows....had a day-glo painted van in there...on Hudson St, maybe...ring any bells?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Jeff Golick:

Wetlands! (Phew.)
  12:26pm That Mike:

Hi Charlie

Tuning in from Deadhorse Alaska, love the everything.

Hi Wendy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Charlie:

Wendy knows this too: The guy who ran Wetlands moved up to Brattleboro, and started a hemp clothing store with a room upstairs (the "radical attic"?) for use by counter-culture organizers, and he also helped start Brattleboro community radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Charlie:

speaking of Wendy, hello friend of Wendy That Mike! Thanks for tuning in from Alaska!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Charlie is right. His name was Larry Bloch. He passed away a few years ago. The store was called "Save the Corporations (From Themselves)."

Hey Mike! Are you out in the field?
  12:31pm Listening Out There:

Lyrics for "unknown" have always gone over my head. Always...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Brian in UK:

Hello Charlie. I was out in the woods just now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Boys keep swinging.
  12:33pm jan:

I was looking for a good time and found it with Charlie!
  12:33pm That Mike:

Nice to see Larry's name..

Love the accordianbeachboys and boysboysboys pairing.

Hi Wendy- no, I'm in the field, going to jump on a plane soon for the next leg of the trip.

Sorry I won't be able to listen more-loved the little bit I got to hear. Thanks Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Brian in UK:

Unlikely scenarios. Jim Morrison doing Carpool Karaoke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Charlie:

Hi Brian in UK, thanks for coming inside:)
Hi Jan -- happy you're here!
That Mike -- glad you could stop by!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Jeff Golick:

Cool to hear more about Larry Bloch; sad to hear of his passing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Jeff, Larry was instrumental in getting our community station on the air. That station is where my show airs, so I'm thankful for his dedication. Larry was quite a character, as you can imagine from someone who helped found Wetlands, and the store, and a funny little radio station.

Bob Dorough produced the Holy Modal Rounders.. weird eh
Avatar 12:54pm geezerette:

Howdy ! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Charlie:

Ha! I've never seen the actual 45. That's cool to know. Forgot it was released, actually. On the box set, it's part of an unreleased album Petula was working on with Tony Hatch when they decided to go their separate ways.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Charlie:

Hey Ike and geezerette!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Brian in UK:

Bob Dorough could produce dragon eggs.
  12:56pm gary mitchell:

agreed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Charlie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Brian in UK:

Funny, I have got The Moray Eels out to play later in mono ofcourse..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I once heard a story about a guy who bought every copy of this Herb Alpert "Whipped Cream" LP he saw, just because they're everywhere. I think that's an admirable endeavor.
I only have one copy, but I'm not giving it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm doctorjazz:

Cool set! Love the Holy Modal Rounders.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Ha! Nice segue, Charlie! You're on a roll today.
Onion, kaiser, poppy seed? Har har.
Avatar 12:59pm geezerette:

@Wendy: such a great silly cover. I have one too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Brian in UK:

A&M, one of the top independent labels of the 60/70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Jeff Golick:

@Wendy: on the album collecting front, this White Album Project is also pretty cool: rutherfordchang.com...
  1:01pm gary mitchell:

so many insanely great things on A&M
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Ike:

After hearing the ECC version so many times on FMU, now I can't even remember what the original Public Enemy beats for that song sound like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Charlie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Charlie:

Ike -- mashups have a way of doing that to a person's mind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Jeff Golick:

Is "Hey, Bullfrog" in there?
Avatar 1:05pm βrian:

Bonjour ! Been busy doing something so I couldn't do nothing. That's fixed now.
Avatar 1:10pm βrian:

"But they told me it was 'Igor.'"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Jeff, that's a great project, the white album thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I'm kvelling over the "Young Frankenstein" reference. FRONKensteen!
Avatar 1:15pm geezerette:

@Brian in UK: The A&M studio & offices were located in the Studio / lot built by Charlie Chaplin. There's a great time lapse home movie Chaplin made of the studio going up, with a wonderful sequence of happy young Charlie beaming at the camera before picking a lemon off a tree, taking a bite, and mugging at shock of the sourness. It's charming.
Think it's in a BBC documentary series made to commemorate his centennial.
Avatar 1:15pm βrian:

YF forms the essence of a cultural keystone and is effectively a shibboleth for the très cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Charlie:

Hey there, βrian, didn't see you come in.
geezerette -- cute story:)
Wendy -- Abbie Normal?
Avatar 1:19pm βrian:

"Useless information playing on your fears"
I thought that was *last* week's theme.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Brian in UK:

@geezerette, the late twentieth century comes to hollywoodland.
Avatar 1:20pm βrian:

@Charlie: I had to bust my way out of the vacuum bag, but I'm fine now.
Avatar 1:23pm βrian:

Now, I haven't heard and Daniel Johnston tracks, at all, playing at the conventions.
Avatar 1:24pm Carmichael:

You'd think Walking The Cow would be perfect for the DNC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Charlie:

haha, Daniel Johnston should be the official voice of both conventions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Jeff Golick:

Charming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Brian in UK:

This is probably heresy but I do like Robert Palmer's version of Not A Second Time on Clues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Charlie:

Brian in UK -- never heard it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Jeff Golick:

Clues is a great record.
  1:28pm gary mitchell:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Jeff Golick:
