welcome back to the 'waves, Kurt!

SeanG:

you are missed!
Avatar 12:04pm
Richard Gruesome:

I always think that for classical works, the "artist" in the playlists should be the composer rather than the performer, but admittedly I spend too much time thinking about these kind of things.
Avatar 12:04pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

hi everyone! thanks seang. you just think you miss me cuz you forgot what i play.
Avatar 12:05pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

richard, most djs do it that way. it feels weird to me, tho. i think of it as the 'performer' column since, for example, we wouldn't list burt bacharach in place of dionne warwick.
Avatar 12:05pm
βrian:

And I tend to think photographic credits should go to the subject first, and then the photographer.

Richard, that's traditionally how it's done. But I guess it doesn't matter if everything gets in there and spelled right.

I'm always confused during Bryce's show, even when it's not his show
Avatar 12:09pm
Richard Gruesome:

A fair point, but I feel that it is different for classical works, since we all agree that classical performers are nothing more than mindless automatons.
Avatar 12:09pm

Shouldn't we credit the pipes?

Is this from the Big Box of Bach, or a Smaller Box of Bach?

My x *hated* Bach as background music. If Bach were playing, everyone was supposed to sit their butts down and LISTEN.

I have to rearrange the [aphasia] on my mp3s of classical works, because 92.4% have performers listed where I would list composers (because when I buy classical works, almost always I buy the composer, with the performer very much second. Unless it's a classical work that I have several versions (Villa Lobos' 5th Bachianas Brasileiras for instance, where I list the composer and Victoria de los Angeles also [for instance]).

Avatar 1:08pm

Lots of people buy classical differently than I, of course. I can see that for many many albums that list Yo Yo Ma in 72 point type and the composers on the back
