hey all. greeeeeat evening for me so far ("great" said like Tony the Tiger), bec the music EFD is playing is just great (which reminds me, where is my DUST cd?). if if if possible, some new CHILLS? and earlier, i saw DAVE HILL do his in-store. and of course it was funny & shredding & erotic; ie, great. he nicely signed the book i had, which was a library copy. i mean, after all, we the taxpayers own it! (what's with Scherzer and $20,000? sorry, bad joke.)
  9:54pm
JakeGould:

@herb.nyc: Where did you see him? McNally-Jackson? Or BookCourt? Was at BookCourt! And sweet move on the library copy getting signed!
Avatar 9:55pm
herb.nyc:

wow, this song is very Dad Forster-y sounding. and back to Dave Hill reading: he mentioned "import / export" and it instantly made me think of Go-B song with lyric "her father works in export but that's of no import at all, i don't mind"
Avatar 9:56pm
herb.nyc:

@JakeG - i was at McNally J. surprisingly, it wasn't overflowing with people. but we made enough noise.
  9:58pm
JakeGould:

@herb.nyc: Yeah, there were so many groupies at BookCourt it was insane. Had to call in extra Hell’s Angels.

This M83 sounds like “Community Bulletin Board” background music.

I always wonder how they got that part to feel so darn punchy "Feeeeeeeels so good"

as EFD has his social media bullhorn, i'ma gonna shill for THE BIG TAKEOVER magazine. (may i? ok, i don't hear any objections.) i brought over the mags to Other Music for sale, so the store's closing hurts a little extra for us. and a new issue will come out in a day or 2, literally. SAVAGES are on the cover. there's a good chance editor / publisher JACK RABID will be at the CHILLS shows in bklyn and Monty Hall. and he'll have copies for sale. so won't you? he's at <bigtakeover.com>. excuse the product placement. thank you.

I love the first/second transition, and "Bye Bye Love" is my favorite Cars song; so when "You're All I've Got Tonight" is played and not follow with "Bye Bye Love", I'm vaguely disappointed. (That's my disappointment, not anyone else's, of course.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm

okay, i concede. i've looked at the track listing and, if i skip all the Orr songs, candy-o is definitely good.

Specifically, I love Bye Bye Love for the chorus with three drum fills that is so, so awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
coelacanth:

"dangerous type" and "double life" are my 2 favorites from "candy-o", i think....and "it's all i can do" is a Benjamin Orr song, so nothing against him.

@geezerette - Yes, Alberto Vargas, who painted pin-ups in the 40s. He came out of retirement for the Cars' cover. Furthermore, Candy Moore is from Maplewood, NJ. All this info courtesy of Wikipedia.

...there was too much Amazing music in 1979 to focus on anything recycled for very long.
