Avatar 3:09pm
Sean B.:

In 78-80 something when BCN was on a roll they would tear it up. I remember recording "Combat Rock" on a Pioneer 8 track player/ recorder with VU meters (As they would premier Full albums before they came out). Also can't forget the "Faster Than You Show" with shred. Ahhhhh the good old days.
Avatar 3:12pm
ndbob:

That Harper Valley record is great
Avatar 3:12pm
chromaphone:

I remember when BCN started playing U2 in heavy rotation in the early 80s and I was like "wtf is that?" couldn't go there with them.
  3:13pm
Mr C:

Saw the Cars and Mink de Ville at the Rat in Boston. 75 people?
Pre Elektra release. Willie's first just out.
Avatar 3:16pm
Sean B.:

I dunno....The real early U2 isn't bad.Kina like REM there early early stuff is priceless....the it was like huh?
  3:17pm
Kristin:

BCN played wayyy worse horseshit than u2. early U2 is smoking even if you refuse to admit it.
Avatar 3:19pm
Sean B.:

Thanx Kristin...;I was waiting to be thrown to the Lions on that one.
Avatar 3:20pm
Sean B.:

The Electric Co.
Avatar 3:21pm
chromaphone:

All I'm saying is my adolescent ears couldn't hang with U2 when they started playing them. I didn't think it was smoking, so I would turn the radio dial. Maybe AAF was around then, can't remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Matt F:

WAAF's motto was "Crank It Up!", as I recall.
Avatar 3:22pm
Sean B.:

Well this Staple Singers track is Badass...
Avatar 3:23pm
Monica:

@mr. c - was toots deville in the house? "She once put out a lit Marlboro in a woman's eye just for staring at Willy. hey there, matt!!
  3:23pm
Mr C:

Retooled version of Staples for radio. Original still the greatest.
Avatar 3:23pm
chromaphone:

When did COZ go under? "kick ass rock n' roll!" :)
Avatar 3:24pm
Sean B.:

Bo!=-My personal hero. Yeah!....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Matt F:

Agreed re Staples, Mr. C, I thought that was the version I was buying. That one is still cool though; produced by Larry Williams if we are to believe the label...
  3:25pm
Kristin:

the 1980s? didn't 94.5 become some hot top 40 station in the late 80s or 90s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Matt F:

Muh Muh Monica!
Avatar 3:27pm
Sean B.:

Larry Williams producing The Staple Singers? Whahhh?. Huh.
  3:27pm
Kristin:

@chromaphone THE ZOU! WCOZ became WZOU. 1984. LOL.
Avatar 3:28pm
chromaphone:

I guess the 80s really did suck then :(
Avatar 3:30pm
chromaphone:

What were those concert shirts where the sleeves came to just a bit past your elbow called? I used to have a COZ one with Pete Townsend on it. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Avatar 3:30pm
Sean B.:

The stuff that I considered shit in the 80's that topped the charts at the time is pretty good compared to what we have now....kinda
  3:30pm
Mr C:

Yes Larry did indeed produce that. Jerry Ragavoy also produced a session at Epic: version of Younglbloods Get Together.
Avatar 3:33pm
chromaphone:

yea, Sean B. I think there were actually good songs written in the 80s but the production style tends to make them icky.
  3:37pm
Kristin:

why don't I have this straitjackets record? I must obtain this record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
Matt F:

One of the best in that Norton Stones covers series.
Avatar 3:38pm
Sean B.:

A pimp producing Gospel legends; Love Larry, man I think his version of Lawdy Miss Clawdy is probably the best one I have heard. @chromaphone oh yes indeed; All this talk of wcoz and stuff is making me realize how goddamn old I am getting though...lol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Matt F:

chromaphone: I remember those 3/4 sleeve wcoz shirts! the sartorial choice of the scary fuzz-mustached teens who hung out in the playground at night.
