"Legend has it that Prince approached Callahan after a (Smog) performance in Minneapolis and presented him with a slander lawsuit. The two settled out of court, although the details of the settlement are unclear (it's believed that Callahan can no longer perform the song live). Here's a particularly good piece I found, with details about the creation of both "Xianity is Stupid" and the David Brom hoax. (The David Brom murder, it seems, really happened. It was only the connection to "Xianity Is" that was a hoax).

i've been thinking alot about Prince's over zealous control of his music, lately. i have two thoughts - 1) he was ahead of his time in controlling his brand (or perhaps took a cue from the Beatles) anyway, when one's brand is oneself, it may frequently get weird 2) perhaps he was economically abused one too many times by folks in the industry? please discuss or ignore as you see fit, wonderful people.

Harry Shearer has had a couple good Investigative Reporting shows this month:
harryshearer.com...
- one on Trump by a Pulitzer Prize winner, & one on the true history of our endless wars in the Middle East. They are kind of interviews w/ Authors about their Books...The whole Trump thing is a symptom of the death of Investigative Reporting. Seen in historical perspective like that - it's jawdropping...I guess getting the dope on things used to Sell - but it doesn't anymore...Of course, the Republican Revolution & then the Tea Party signed away the Fairness Act, any FCC regulations on how many papers or stations the 1% can own - &tc. ...& - a President named Clinton helped (the 'New Democrats')....
