I wonder if the guy in the main picture knows the miner of the Audio Motherlode from the blog?

I had the pleasure of watching Lonnie Holley perform about four feet in front me at KBOO's tiny back studio.

Rich in Washington:

We had just moved in an upright piano that someone gave to the station that badly needed tuning. Lonnie insisted on doing part of his set on it. It was a magical night.

Listener Robert:

You moved in an upright piano? Wouldn't it've been more comfortable in a van?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm
Dan Bodah:

Hi all. Wish I had seen Lonnie when he played 3hrs in the WFMU studio for Trouble's show. He is magical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Rich in Washington:

@Listener Robert: we were inspired by the spoken bits from Lumpy Gravy.

I mean - who would you compare Lonnie Holley too? SunRa? Richard Youngs? I dunno!
He blows my mind & goes straight to the heart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Dan Bodah:

Yeah, LH is another musician for whom there is no precedent. He is totally unique.
Avatar 7:21pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...how about - he's Richard Youngs & Curtis Mayfield combined...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
Dan Bodah:

I wanna get a Tshirt of that record-digging photo atop the playlist made and wear it to the WFMU record fair in 2 weekends just to freak out all the collectors

DQ:

LH reminds me of Van Morrison in his spiritual phase - Veedon Fleece, Common One, etc.
