Afternoon, folks!

Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats...clicked on the wrong pop-up. It was playing Duane's stream and it didn't sound like Dengue Fever.
  12:08pm
Cliff:

Hello Sasha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Uncle Michael:

Hey Sasha!

I'm making a point to listen more to the morning web-only shows and your show was so great this past Tuesday. I'm stealing and/or inspired by several things you played.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
sashajones:

Hey Ken & Cliff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
sashajones:

Thanks so much, Uncle Michael, that's really nice to hear!
  12:13pm
Cliff:

Ken From HP: I found Ken's Bohemian Rhapsody episode, from the comments it looks like the listeners started revolting only 17 minutes in :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Cliff - Hoo boy. I remember that show. What a joker!
  12:17pm
Cliff:

Sasha are you taking requests? I'd like to hear some Bohemian Rhapsody. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
sashajones:

;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
sashajones:

I don't think I've heard this show! Was it on repeat?
  12:22pm
Cliff:

wfmu.org...

First he played the original version, then the rest of the show was all covers of it. Everyone warned me during Ken's show this morning NOT to listen to the archive, haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Afternoon, Sasha!
I listened to that whole damn Bohemian Rhapsody show. Joe McG did something similar…I wanna say Eleanor Rigby?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
sashajones:

Yo, Greg!
  12:24pm
Cliff:

A few weeks ago Chris M. played Doug Sahm's "It's Gonna Be Easy" on repeat for the last half hour of his show....I think he was trying to get people to calm down on the comments board, heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm
Rich in Washington:

I remember that. I have no idea what made that happen. I must've missed something.
  12:26pm
Cliff:

That last song by William Penn was really beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Chris M.'s New Year's Eve show was three hours of "Bye Bye, Blackbird."
Avatar 12:32pm
ndbob:

afternoon Sasha and everyone!
  12:33pm
Cliff:

I feel like a little kid again listening to The Cascades - my parents only let us listen to the oldies station on the radio when we were growing up, heh
Avatar 12:34pm
steve:

hey Sasha and friends. trying to figure out what to do on my day off. now i have even less reason to leave the house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
sashajones:

Hey Steve! It's gorgeous out, great day for a day off
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
sashajones:

afternoon, ndbob!

doctorjazz:

Hi all, nice music, enjoying the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
sashajones:

hey doctorjazz, thanks!
Avatar 12:56pm
ndbob:

just checked - as I thought "Teardrops on Your Letter' is the A side of the original version of The Twist - and great set to come into chat on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
sashajones:

True, good point! My dad first played me that original version of the Twist and told me the history of it all when I was in high school
Avatar 1:03pm
ndbob:

@sasha It would be possible to do several shows of songs where the B side became a massive hit - and the A side a lesser one - or a flop
  1:05pm
Cliff:

Really enjoying the rain-themed show with no rain outside. It's sunny here in Syracuse too (doesn't happen that often :)
Avatar 1:05pm
ndbob:

threatening here in Indiana - and rain later
Avatar 1:13pm
steve:

feel so springy right now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Just drove cross-country for the first time over the holidays. So exhausting and amazing. It's weird how I hem and haw about visiting friends in South Jersey or CT, but I will head out to LA any time I get a long weekend…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
sashajones:

Greg, so TRUE. Even going upstate on Metro North feels like a "haul" and yet here I go. What route did you take?
Avatar 1:22pm
ndbob:

@Greg Ype - I remember the first time I did that - Baltimore to Seattle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
sashajones:

Steve, it really does. I feel like the sky is a different color than it's been, even! Are you on ~springy~ break?
Avatar 1:27pm
steve:

springy break was two weeks ago. i did a bunch of fun day trips which was great. i have the rest of today off and am wondering if i should just jump onto a train to somewhere and go for one of my patented NYC megawalks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
fred:

@Greg: were you responsible for the "Ape to DJ" graphics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
Uncle Michael:

Greg, the next time you drive to L.A., stop here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
sashajones:

Uncle Michael, where do you live?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Uncle Michael:

Kansas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Yup! Ape > DJ was me.

There was a massive storm in the middle of the country, so we drove under it: Charlotte NC > Jackson MS > Odessa TX > Tuscon AZ > LA.

I'll be out again in a few weeks, Uncle Michael! Just for a day before driving up the coast. Gonna hit Dodgers v Cards though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
sashajones:

I'm passing through Kansas City---MO but close! Any tips?
  1:36pm

Arthur Bryants.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Uncle Michael:

What are you looking for in KC, Sasha?
  1:37pm
Cliff:

I really liked the animation Greg, I heard there was even a monolith at the beginning but I missed it, heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Uncle Michael:

Greg, there's always cold beer at the house...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
sashajones:

I'm guessing we'll just be there for a late afternoon/evening and then the next morning -- so good food, good walks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
fred:

@Greg: I though I recognized your style, I once called it digital roaring twenties and I'm sticking to it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
Uncle Michael:

Country Club Plaza, Crossroads Arts District, 18th & Vine area (jazz museum and negro leagues museum share a lobby). nelson Atkins Museum of Art. What kind of food?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Uncle Michael:

Greg may be the John Held Jr. of this millenium.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
fred:

@Uncle Michael: I'm on board with that idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
sashajones:

All kinds! Open to barbecue of course, but curious about what else is going on outside of that circuit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
Uncle Michael:

I like a place called Tannin Wine Bar. Good food and reasonable prices. I really like the pork cheeks and polenta.
Avatar 1:51pm
ndbob:

excellent show Sasha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Flying out this time, Uncle Michael, but keep that beer on ice!

Thanks, ya'll! I look forward to holing up every February and working on Marathon stuff. Sure beats leaving the house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm
Uncle Michael:

Just make sure the Dodgers crush the Cards, Greg.
