It's shocking to me how great and how varied and how prolific he was, versus how little known he was, even in Russia

Hi Mom! I feel like we haven't talked in a while. I liked the photo of the walkway that Hal made ... looks very nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm
Gary:

Anything ca. 1976 and earlier would have been recorded in his apartment; anything ca. 1977 and later was done after hours on the equipment in the studio where he worked as a sound engineer / producer

scary: i use my ipal for sound on my pc here, never use it for the radio setting. the thing started making terrible feedback noises, so i yanked out the aux in cord to see if i needed to blow dust out of it and hall and oates' "your kiss is on my list" came blasting out at top volume from the fm dial. that was horrifying.

Tusalava:

Well hello there.

Howdy, Tusalava ... Hyde, were you Hall & Oates rolled?

Avatar 9:17pm
Flash Strap:

this shit is crazy Gary, how have I never even seen this guy's name
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
Gary:

He was very much anti-star ... I think he only toured a couple of times. So even in the USSR / Russia he wasn't very well known, although the musicians all revered him
Avatar 9:21pm

awesome!

NGH!

ah-ha... as Eno was here until ....when?

Отлично!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
Gary:

Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm
Ike:

Cool, you've got a guest host next week! I presume a lot of GTDS shows won't have a guest host (because they're far away and/or due to technical issues). It really makes a big difference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
Gary:

Everyone will have either a live host or a virtual host, Ike -- I'm going to virtual host Flashstrap's show, for instance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
coelacanth:

i don't need to click any tracks for i'm gold-starring the whole program!
(actually i did already)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm
Gary:

Yuri is smiling at you from Heaven, Coelacanth
Avatar 9:39pm
hyde:

@Gary are you going to hover in the background like a wraith while Flash tries to DJ his show? i'll pony up for that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
Gary:

I'm going to whizzzzzz and screeeeeech about in the comments, yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm
coelacanth:

Gary, i like your description of Yuri in the program title...i might add Tom Zé to that list as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm
Gary:

Yes! I wonder if maybe, almost anyone awesome one might think of, we can add them to Yuri's list
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm
coelacanth:

Haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
Ike:

Oh wow @Gary@9:38, for real? Even Tony Coulter?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
Gary:

Yes! Even, even, even Tony
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
coelacanth:

-even if someone is in the vicinity of jersey city, it might be very difficult to, essentially, run 2 fund-raisers out of the fmu headquarters simultaneously. (if not impossible.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
coelacanth:

(-or 3, as would be the case between 7-8 pm on wednesdays)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm
Gary:

Ah, but there are three studios, Coelacanth, and I'll be doing mine out of one of them :)
  9:55pm
David:

Hi, Gary. My new job kept me away as well.
The few tracks I've heard are pretty cool. Any reference to Captain Beefheart must not be taken lightly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm
Gary:

Hi David! I think he earned it
  9:57pm
David:

Which tracks are on the experimental/avant-garde side?
Avatar 9:58pm
northguineahills:

I've only caught 40 minutes in total, but wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm
coelacanth:

ohhh. i knew there were (at least) 3 studios, but thought the whole dj/co-host/phone room set-up was a fairly complex, specifically devoted space.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm
Gary:

@David: Dream of the Red Chamber, definitely!
  10:00pm
David:

Definitely eliments of prog-rock.
Will explore this gentleman more.. thanks Gary
Avatar 10:01pm
hyde:

cool stuff. thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm
coelacanth:

Daaammn... Thank you so for turning me (us) onto Mr. Morozov, Gary.
...'shame he died so young.
good night y'all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
Ike:

Oh, I misunderstood. By "virtual host" you just mean comments. So that's not new. But it's cool nonetheless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
Gary:

Have a great night, all; see ya at the marathon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
Gary:

@Ike, yes, for the far-aways, comments
