I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Happy new year, M. Really enjoying the school chant.

Happy new year to you too, Listener142985! Buddhist monks are often pretty great musicians.

I think my old grand pappy had a saying: "Neither a bower nor a lender be." That can be my new year's resolution. Hi, everybody!

Hi Mayuko! Lovely Mulberry tree

Listener142985:

Very much like your Shaker art today. If you have not made the trip to Hancock Shaker Village, it is a beautiful place. And they do a baby animals event in spring. Clean lines, baby lambs. You really can't beat it.
Avatar 5:19pm
Mayuko:

Thank you for tuning in, Ken! I think bower is a good thing to be unless that means to be Jamie Bower. I had a hard time finding good bower images on google because of him. I blame him.
Avatar 5:22pm
Mayuko:

Jesse!! Welcome on board!!! Listener142985, I didn't know about Shaker art until I stumbled upon Hannah Cohoon's art - this picture is one of hers - I'd love to know more and visit that village! They make beautiful furniture and stuff, right? Also very interesting concept that their name came from "shake" (like dancing, I suppose?)

Gary! Hello!!!

Dave B:

I think it's shaking more like "convulsions" than KC & The Sunshine Band.
  5:32pm
Listener142985:

They made beautiful things, from wooden boxes to barns, with an emphasis on elegance and simple lines. Their aesthetic never goes out of style, but they kind of doomed themselves with that celibacy thing. Oh well.
Avatar 5:33pm
Mayuko:

Convulsions is more like a definition of dance in Play Vertigo context than Earth Wind & Fire too, Dave B.

Thanks for tuning in, JtotheK! Happy to hear you're enjoying it!
Avatar 5:54pm

I think Fukuda san was trying to make a musical pun for Suicide (assuming from the sound the album title...) Although not sure if that works for native English speakers: Suicide/Seaside.

Wow, a shaker mention on this show's playlist! The only thing I know about them is that they had a leader called Ann Lee, and I know that from an art video that had Sonic Youth as a soundtrack (that was years ago, and I don't remember the name of the artist)
Coincidentally or not, my profile picture is another Ann Lee, Mircea Cantor's take on an art project involving copyright that I think took it beyond its original intent, rightfully
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
fred:

The place where I took it from is gone, but there's another one which has the full picture here: www.instagram.com...
That seaside track was great, BTW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm
fred:

"Bleu à Lèvres" is kinda tough: "Rouge à lèvres" means lipstick, with "rouge" meaning red and "lèvres" meaning "lips". "Bleu" means "blue" so this could be a pun about a corpse's blue lips, then again it could be about girls with blue lipstick, and/or both
Avatar 12:02pm
Mayuko:

Interesting, I saw M/M Paris Ann Lee posters long time ago, but didn't quite understand the concept then. I just red about it and now I see. I like that version of Ann Lee on your prof pic much better than that initial(?) one that's more Japanese manga-ish Ann Lee.
