Thanks, Fred! Do you ever sleep?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12am
Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Paul & Fred!
It's noon in Europe!
:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19am
fred:

Hi Guido!
@Paul: Funny line about me never sleeping after I woke up at 11am
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33am
DJ PB:

Well you always seem to be online when I'm on, Fred! Which is very random. Thanks for checking in too, Guido!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48am
fred:

@Paul: maybe it's just that I like your show, so I'll say hi, even if I'm only listening for a short time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49am
DJ PB:

It's always appreciated, Fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51am
pacific standard simon:

Graaaugh! Hulk smash!

Predator sounds kinda like The Dickies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54am
DJ PB:

The vocals maybe, Simon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am
pacific standard simon:

Could be.

What other categories you got?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00am
DJ PB:

After singles we've got the top 25 LPs! And that should take us to the end of the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am
pacific standard simon:

I won't make it to the end, but I appreciate the recommendations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
DJ PB:

No problem, Simon. Hopefully, I'll make it to the end!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am
Guido from Cologne:

can WFMU provide distribution for it's "in-house"-Bands? No idea where to purchse the Sunshine & The Rain 7''
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am
DJ PB:

Get it here, Guido! sunshineandtherain.bandcamp.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am
Guido from Cologne:

Oh, great, finally they put it on bandcamp!
Thanks paul!

Mailman Tom:

Whenever I hear the word "thighmaster", I can't help but think of Suzanne Sommers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am
pacific standard simon:

Again with the vocal similarities -- Constant Mongrel sounds like Wire.
  7:30am
KP:

Morning, Paul. Very encouraging
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am
DJ PB:

Simon, Tom: oddly enough, when i heard Suzanne Sommers I think of Wire! They were the musical guest on a talk show she briefly hosted in the 80s. Looks for the clip on YouTube. It's bonkers!
Avatar 7:35am
Mailman Tom:

I've never seen a clip of Wire. Thanks for the heads up, Paul!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am
DJ PB:

Morning, KP!

Good morning Paulie B. I just woke up with the radio still on from last night. And here you are playing the platters that matter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am
DJ PB:

Mark, I prefer to think of it as the clatter that matters.
Avatar 7:42am
Mailman Tom:

As soon as this show hits the archives, I'm re-playing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47am
DJ PB:

May want to check with a doctor first, Tom!
Avatar 7:58am
Mailman Tom:

You're on WFMU only about once every month. Why is that?
Avatar 8:02am
Howard F:

Thanks for playing Mikal Cronin! I saw him at 4Knots Festival on Pier 84 in July. That was a fun day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am
DJ PB:

I'm a fill-in DJ, Tom. I'm on the air when someone can't make their regular show and they ask me to cover for them.
Avatar 8:15am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...had to check Deaf Wish didn't involve J. Mascics...a good thing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
pacific standard simon:

I think Mailman Tom knows that, and wonders why more DJs don't pick you as a fill-in. A good question.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24am
fred:

Maybe some DJs are afraid to be Wally Pipped
Avatar 8:25am
herb.nyc:

This is one great list, and shows how behind I am. Thanks for learning me.
Avatar 8:29am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hell - I wish most FMU-Js were their own 24/7 stream. If Archive players were continuous episode-to-episode, I suppose that would be close...Fill-in DJs get to save it all up, too - dark horses...Would it be déclassé to mention PaulBruno does the Unblinking Ear podcast: theunblinkingear.blogspot.com ? Yes? Might be a job for me then...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am
DJ PB:

I wonder that myself sometimes! Honestly, I think a big reason because I'm not at the station as much as some of the other fill-in DJs. Out of sight, out of mind.

Of course, the other end of it is that sometimes they all come at once, especially during holidays. I was asked by 4 different DJs of Thanksgiving weekend! There's really no rhyme or reason. I just try to enjoy it when I have the opportunity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am
DJ PB:

It would probably be déclassé for me to mention it (and in violation of WFMU's conflict of interest policy) but you're welcome to, Rabbit!
Avatar 8:31am
herb.nyc:

I tuned in about 7.40am, and the lists veer towards kick ass rock. Is there anything like the Chills in the running? You know, sensitive mopey stuff. I hear their new one is v good.
Avatar 8:34am
Mailman Tom:

Thanks for the info, Revolution R !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am
DJ PB:

The new Chills LP is pretty good! There's definitely a bit of sensitive mopey-ness coming up. And if you like the Chills, my #1 pick is going to be right up your alley.
Avatar 8:38am
herb.nyc:

I (and my cat Natalie Lewinsky) await the #1 pick, thanks.

I first heard the name PROTOMARTYR on npr's Sound Opinion about 2 months ago. That was a good song just played. Maybe I get a music hall of w'burg ticket...
