HI! AmNazz!
  12:02pm
MONEYBAG$:

Was this requested by Seymour Skinner?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
Amanda:

Nope, by Wiggum I believe

Childhood memory: I cried and cried when Bobby Darin passed away.

Good afternoon, Amanda.

Is this where I'm supposed to be?
Avatar 12:11pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Amanda:

Look in your heart, Uncle Michael, and you'll find the answer.
  12:12pm
Dean:

Is it just me, or is the playlist theme today euphemisms for non-missionary positions?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Jeff Golick:

Look in your pants, Dean, and you'll find the answer.
  12:14pm
MONEYBAG$:

You're on to something, Dean
  12:15pm
Dean:

They're hanging on the line just now. Did I leave a penny in 'em?
  12:16pm
Dean:

"Is that a roll of dimes in your pocket, or are you just mildly pleased to see me?"
  12:16pm
Dean:

Okay. I'll stop.

Nice Monkees!
  12:20pm
P-90:

Does that theory imply that the kitten/donkey gif is supposed to have some relevance to "non-missionary positions"?

Do I have to spell this out, Dr. Rohrschach?

Wow, Nellie McKay, liked that.

Adjective of the Week Winner: "scrumminess"
  12:36pm
P-90:

Darrin did have that impeccable showmanship, and also an unmistakeable, irresistible personal charm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Amanda:

I actually said "strumminess." "Scrumminess" is no word.
  12:39pm
P-90:

I stand corrected. "Strumminess" makes more sense. Still the winner.
  12:39pm
Dean:

Nope, "scrummy" is a word. Per OED, "Excellent, fine, ‘smashing’; enjoyable, delicious." As in "scrumptious."
  12:40pm
MONEYBAG$:

"Scrumminess" gets 26,100 google results
  12:40pm
Dean:

Yeah, well, you know what else gets google results?
  12:42pm
MONEYBAG$:

sure, I just googled "upsidedown circus world"
  12:42pm
Dean:

And I bet you had to turn off safe viewing settings before doing it.
  12:43pm
P-90:

I wasn't going to belabor the point that scrummy, and by extension, scrumminess, actually are words, but the Anglophiles (and compulsive know-it-alls) had to chime in with clarification, so yeah.
  12:43pm
MONEYBAG$:

don't try that at work
  12:43pm
Dean:

Great band name: Compulsive Know-it-alls
  12:44pm
P-90:

Lemme guess: does "upsidedown circus world" bring us back to "non-missionary positions"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Jeff Golick:

Those Royal Jesters had me thinking Mayfield.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Amanda:

OK, sorry to get heated there -- I should've known that is a word as I have indeed heard "scrummy" before (although it is kind of revolting, as words go).
Avatar 12:47pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& 'jammy' means lucky over there - as in 'jammy bastard'...
  12:49pm
P-90:

A guess: "scrummy" can sound revolting because of phonetic resemblance to "scummy"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Amanda:

Actually, Derek himself probably said "Scrummy" BITD if you think about it
  12:50pm
MONEYBAG$:

what is a jammy dodger?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Amanda:

P-90, not really because of that, more because "scrumptious" is a pretty gross and sickening word and concept. Now let's stop talking about this.
Avatar 12:51pm
KP:

There is, or was, a band called Autosalvage?
  12:53pm
P-90:

@Moneybags: in England, a "lucky bastard." In the US, a child who prefers not to wear pajamas to bed.
  12:53pm
Dean:

You're right, Amanda. "Scrumptious" actually derives from a word meaning, ‘mean, stingy, close-fisted.' Done.
  12:53pm
Doug Schulkind:

Hello, nazaroonies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Amanda:

Hiya Doug!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Amanda:

@KP Autosalvage made only one album. But it was amazing!
Avatar 12:57pm
ndbob:

True Amanda!
  1:03pm
P-90:

Autosalvage is the band that made one great psychedelic album in 1968 before disbanding; also notable because the guitarist was Rick Turner, who later bulit sound systems for and did musical instrument repair/design/construction for the Grateful Dead and others. That distinctive little brown electric guitar you always see Lindsey Buckingham with is the Turner Model One, still hand-made in limited quantities and much coveted by players.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Jeff Golick:

What *don't* you guys know?

Apparently, this Halloween EC was handing out candy in my nabe with Steve Buscemi, on Buscemi's stoop. That must've been a scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Amanda:

Maybe just healthy snacks that he claimed were "So Like Candy"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Amanda:

Wow, I think that is hilarious

Is there a new Nick Drake release? Getting a lot of play.

One of my wife's best friends had questionable tastes in music (the better one's were from her bfs), but after her not getting any of our Simpson's references, she confided she never watched the Simpsons. She doesn't hang out w/ her as much any more.

My wife grew up watching the Simpson's in Mexico, so she was surprised how much better the voices/accents were in English, and how the jokes also made more sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Amanda:

Interesting... I have only heard Spanish-language Simpsons a little, but I'm always intrigued at the end of the credits on TV when they show the Spanish actors' names for SAP. There are fewer of them which means more people must do more voices.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Amanda:

Or, I mean fewer people do more voices.

It's also how I worked on my Spanish when visiting her parents, since I have all of the Simpsons memorized.

I have friends from the Netherlands, where The Simpsons are HUGE apparently, who learned quite a bit of English after they moved here by watching Simpsons episodes they already knew by heart, but now in the original English.
