Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from September 22, 2015 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

This speaks to my inner blues part of my spectrum. It says ba ba deowwww der dang dang beoww boujzzee!! To which i believe the standard reply is to strike a full split static air guitar pose and speak the holy incantation 'klatu verata jam on it!'

@linda I'm getting a powerful visual . I wish i could add the hawk to my current field of vision which is my living room ceiling. It would compliment the awesome tunes, powerful bong hits and requisite pint of Cherry Garcia. I'll have to look into the local constabularies regulations for a wild hawk in the house.

I bet 90's PIL and new PIL would get into a fight with that 80' PIL
  5:17pm
Dean:

Saw PIL in '80, too, at LA's Olympic Auditorium, with a ton of opening acts, including Los Lobos and the Kipper Kids. Highlight was when a young kid, maybe 12, joined Lydon on stage and sang along. Got his picture in the LA Times.

I saw the KK a handful of times back then. They were a hoot. I remember one performance at a "gallery" up a few floors in a downtown LA high-rise. Wine, cheese, everybody "Blah blah blah..." The lights dim, seats are taken, and the window explodes. The KKs enter from outside the building.

My favorite album!
  5:39pm
Dean:

After the requisite spectacular entrance (one time they cut their way out of a plywood box in the middle of the room with a chain saw) there follows the singing, merriment, and mess that's typical of a KK show. Lots of whipped cream, paint, canned spaghetti, M80s, toy musical instruments, sacks of faux (one hopes) doo-doo hanging in bags from athletic supporters, razor blades... You know, the usual.

Gomez NEEDS to pee on the popemobile
  5:45pm
Linda Lee:

indeed. .. who will pee on the popemobile now?
  5:45pm
Dean:

I'm still fascinated. I mean, one of the KK was at the time and remains Mr. Bette Midler, for crying out loud. To boot, at the time--while he was doing KK shows--he appeared regularly on local public access TV as the real life commodities broker he was in Santa Monica. It was bizarre.
