...hear the influence on the doors here, & Them's 1st album stuff makes me think of the Two Morrisons meeting @ the Whiskey & L.A....Eric Burden one of the few people who could talk a little sense into Jimbo too...& now the Hollies peeping around - you rule...

Thanks Rabbit! and hey to all!

JakeGould:

The difference between the Doors and Them? Whenever I listen to the Doors I can’t get rid of the image of Drunk Morrison singing like a drunk out of my head. Loved them in high school but as an adult I just can’t deal with “The Lizard King” anymore.

This “Maura & Dana” is pretty great.

- & what about when you drink?...oh - lotsa difference between them - just interesting to note the similarities - & Them being earlier...

JakeGould:

@RevolutionRabbitNov63: I don’t pretend to be some drunken poet magician. I mean Jim Morrison’s lyrics are just so bad. I tried to listen to “American Prayer” recently… Was so deep to me in high school… So cringeworthy now…
Avatar 9:41pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah - he became a Rock Star & a Substance Abuser instead of developing the potential - realized & unrealized - that he really did have as Poet. Some of his lines were great. Every Poet is also unique. A great & influential Performer as well - & one of the best Rock Voices as a Singer...but nevermind...
  9:45pm
JakeGould:

@RevolutionRabbitNov63: I will say this, I think Morrison’s persona/style worked well and were revolutionary for the 1960s but nowadays it doesn’t age well.

When I lived in Seattle there was a 70s arena rock cover band called 70 Proof. It contained members of The Presidents Of The United States Of America, Mudhoney, Young Fresh Fellows, Fastbacks, Supersuckers, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and others. Usually 15-20 guys were on hand for each show and would take turns trying to outplay each other. It was ridiculous and so much fun.

  11:26pm

@Pat: Dude, my quote is basically Seinfeld meta-refercing himself to Seinfeld because all of Seinfeld is basically, “What’s the deal with people who are=n’t me? They do things differently! Why is that? Why can’t they be me?”

Ken From Hyde Park:

Podcasts? That's an odd name. I'd have called them chazzwazzers.
  11:44pm
JakeGould:

Nodcast: A podcast you listen to before going to sleep.
  11:45pm
Listener Robert:

In-studio guests at WVOX often don't even know that camera in the corner isn't a security device, but streaming, even during ads & news. I think it's on WVOX.com .
  11:47pm
Listener Robert:

The odd thing is that the studio-cam at WVOX also has its own microphone, so when the guests think they're "off", they're still on-mic. It's fainter, though.
  11:51pm
JakeGould:

I can’t stand Car Talk!
  11:51pm
Listener Robert:

Another way the audience can be primarily audio, though w some video audience too, is the station that took up the old NTSC channel 6 to get 87.8 (IIRC) MHz on the FM dial. They had to put out a token video signal to get the channel license. Usually just slides or unrelated programming to the audio, but sometimes a studio-cam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm

Call them byrnies, after the radio personality who first came up with the idea of renaming podcasts to something else.
