Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:14am Alex In Illinois:

@still b/p: wackolyte! I can't believe that I never thought of that! Especially after that time when my friend Mike was the usher Acolyte wearing pious-looking white robe and holding this pole with a brass cross on top with one hand while guiding people to the communion rail with the other, and got my foot with the bottom end of the pole. He had become a Wackolyte.

Leaf rakers of the world unite! Make leaf mould! Seedlings love it.
Avatar 10:43am ottovonbqe:

I don't understand leaf rakers either. Why does man need to clean up the leaves that fall to the earth? Asinine.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:44am Alex In Illinois:

. . . and what about all of the extra unnecessary dust and junk they stir up? Some are electric, but many are gasoline powered, as if we needed yet another way to burn fossil fuels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am coelacanth:

we (where i'm working) have a no-blower rule for the groundskeepers. ...also a rule that the back of the mowers are open,so the cut grass (weeds) get thrown back to where it belongs. (the ground)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar 10:48am glenn:

maybe so, but leaf blowers are awesome for cleaning off a freshly stripped roof, or a new floor deck.
Avatar 10:49am glenn:

although i use a rake for leaves.
Avatar 10:49am ottovonbqe:

you'd need a really sturdy leaf too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am coelacanth:

if it were up to me the leaves would be allowed to stay were they fell- to do what nature intends them to do...& we'd have healthier trees for it.
...and there'd be as many,if not more people employed if more things were done without power tools.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am Doug Schulkind:

  11:42am Dean:

Moore's Law is shorthand for the rapidly increasing capacity of technology to perform more, and more complex, calculations. It was a remark in 1965 by one of the founders of Intel to the effect that the power of an integrated circuit (measured in the number of transistors) had doubled year after year. He predicted that pattern would continue, and he has been proven pretty much right. Think about that: since 1965 the power of an IC has increased on the order of 2^50. This is why we have greeting cards that sing to us.
Avatar 🥁 11:42am βrian:

@BUK: Jiminy, I presume.
  11:43am Dean:

Oops. Thanks, ndbob. Mistake in my precis: the doubling occurs every two years, so 2^25.
