The last time I saw John Renbourn was in the late 90s in Atlanta at a theater in the "hip" section of town on a Saturday night and the place was half empty but it was a great show he played solo. Thanks for the set.
Avatar 3:51am

'Super Nova' album by Wayne Shorter was recorded a week or two after Woodstock Aug-Sept. '69. Something in the air?

@Ryab: ...if you're still around...For 'Folk', Sat. morning here is 'Shrunken Planet', & Irene on Tuesday eves has a lot of great acoustic & lower-key stuff...even John Allen veers into 'Folk' when the inclination hits...

revRabbit, "Bitches Brew" was recorded just a couple DAYS after "Woodstock." Something definitely in the air.
Jeff,@your earlier comment, yes, there IS a hip section of Atlanta--it's called the Virginia Highlands--a lot of beautiful old Victorian homes, and cool shops and restaurants etc. If Beavo's talking about the same place, I saw Leonard Cohen at that theatre in the 90s--one of the greatest concerts I ever had the pleasure of attending. I only lived in Atlanta for a year, but I loved it while I was there. So don't be so provincial, man.
Avatar 5:17am
Jeff Conklin:

Somehow I feel like it's the music's fault, Adam. Apologies.
Avatar 5:18am
Jeff Conklin:

I'm not being provincial, I just assumed was one of those cities not plagued by coolness.
Avatar 5:19am
Eiderdown:

Well, If I piss on the couch tonight, yes, I will blame you Jeff
  5:19am
mark:

That can be one of FMU's daily slogans: "Music so good, you'll pee."
  5:21am
mark:

If you're using "cool" as a pejorative, then yes, it's no Brooklyn. But the people were very nice and the music scene is very healthy. Although I couldn't find a single jazz club. The rest of the South regards Atlanta as not being "truly" Southern and one told me "There's too many Yankees." Which is probably why I liked it.
Avatar 5:25am
Jeff Conklin:

Good to know, Mark. Thanks.

Hi Jeff, great show tonight.

P.S. RIP John Renbourn.
