sugarwolf! Good way past evening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:11am sugarwolf:

good morning, Matt!
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:11am Listener Robert:

Got to be the loneliest shift, immediately after marathon. I salute you, but won't be listening. Good night.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:11am Matt from Springfield:

I love this piece--the really amazing thing is that Carlos did a version of "Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary" by Henry Purcell--the music to this is actually over 300 years old.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:12am Caryn:

Morning! Sleep, what sleep?
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:12am Matt from Springfield:

I'm off tomorrow, so what good fortune for me!
Hi Caryn! Not Marathoned-out yet? :)
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:13am P-90:

Well Hello Julie, it's so nice to have you back where you belong...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:13am Andrew Waterloo:

hello
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:14am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: "Dark lift us up where we belong..."

@Julie: Not a huge fan of the Birthday Massacre theme when you first started it, but I love it more with each hearing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 12:14am Ken From Hyde Park:

So, who's up for some frosty milk shakes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:14am Caryn:

@Matt: Well, I still have to catch up on the archives of shows I missed on Friday and Saturday when I was travelling. And gotta be here for Julie! (But that's not Marathon, that's post-Marathon activity.)
Mon. 3/23/15 12:14am Phillip in Brooklyn:

Hello Julie:-) we missed you at the party. Or maybe you were there in the audience
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:14am Julie:

Oh my, late to playlist and all these comments! Hi folks!

The rare time zone advantage, still plenty of evening left here. Howdy, Julie!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:15am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Julie! So glad you have you back on! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:15am Caryn:

I will now have a breakfast of vanilla coke and chocolate chip cookies just to keep me going a couple of more hours.
Mon. 3/23/15 12:15am Phillip in Brooklyn:

I was hoping I'd see you tonight at the marathon party
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:17am -andrew-:

Hey Julie! Nice to have you back again.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:17am listener mark:

Hi Julie,
Happy post-marathon party!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:17am Matt from Springfield:

Whaddaya know, I missed a fill-in for Scott McDowell on Mar 5--well that's queued up in my Archive lineup!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:17am Andrew Waterloo:

I enjoyed the time shift when I was in Europe last.
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:17am P-90:

@Matt: it's a quintessentially English-sounding piece, so doing a squiggly synth arrangement neatly suggested the milieu of the book, an England of the future that's still truly English, but all dystopian and shit
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:19am northguineahills:

W00!, It's Julie!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:19am Matt from Springfield:

Absolutely P-90!
And Hearty White once played the "analogue" version of that, sounded the same but with brass instead of squiggly-synthy-synth brass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:20am JakeGould:

For the record, “A Clockwork Orange” always creeps me out in ways most films don’t.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:21am Julie:

Hey Hey guys! Settling in for some calm here at party central .
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:22am P-90:

Love that snare drum tone
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:24am Caryn:

I swear to god I've heard the "analogue" version of Purcell's work in a movie too, but trying to google that music and movies always leads to A Clockwork Orange and wikipedia is no help, so I guess I'll run across it when rewatching movies, if ever.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:24am Matt from Springfield:

The tumultous calm...
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:25am Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: That's how it'll have to be, until there's a way to "Bookmark" scenes from life.
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:28am P-90:

Band name inspired by the graphic on Julie's page:
"Rorschach Jizzblob"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:29am Caryn:

This is the period of Status Quo I enjoy. 80s' Status Quo? Ugh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:29am Andrew Waterloo:

Caryn, do you mean acoustic version?
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:29am Matt from Springfield:

"But, what KIND of jizzblob? Are you threatened, or happy, or something else about this jizzblob? And, why "jizz" and not "spoogeblob"??..
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:30am Tome:

Julie welcome , always a nice surprise ,, esp after tonight's Marathon !
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:30am Caryn:

Just looked out of the window for the first time in 15 hours, and it's snowed!

@Andrew: yeah, but since Matt referred to it as the "analogue" version earlier, I thought I'd continue in that vein.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:30am Matt from Springfield:

*The* quintessential Status Quo song to me. Never knew what "pictures of matchstick men" is supposed to mean, but love these psych riffs.

@Caryn: Bands that lasted that long, typically should not have. Think Jefferson Airplane from this period, into "Starship" of the 80s!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:31am fleep:

Spoogeblob Squarepants?
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:32am P-90:

Wasn't Judy Jetson briefly infatuated with with a futuristic Punk rocker named Rorschach Spoogeblob?
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:32am Matt from Springfield:

Gasp! You've cracked the secret fleep!
Maybe he started out as one of Elaine Benes' "hoarded" sponges...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:33am Andrew Waterloo:

Caryn figured one of you simply drew a blank on the proper word, hence the quotes.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:33am Matt from Springfield:

The lunatic - is on the narrow way!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:34am Caryn:

@Matt: I thought it had already been established that Bikini Bottom is located near the Bikini Atoll, and thus all the characters on the show are clearly radioactive mutated forms of sealife?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:34am Andrew Waterloo:

Some poor kid in my home town is being harassed because her name is Isis. Ironically, Facebook almost kicked her off because they assumed her named was fake.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:37am Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Makes sense, but a tossed-out contraceptive sponge in the pollution would provide the biological sample. I'm not a molecular biologist but I know enough to pitch the concept for a 60s Sherwood Schwartz sitcom about it on TV...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:39am Caryn:

@Matt: let us know how the pitch goes, because you have a ready audience here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 12:40am Ken From Hyde Park:

"The Secrets of Isis" TV show from the 70s - www.tv.com...

  Mon. 3/23/15 12:40am Danne D:

Yay Julie Dark :) perfect post marathon dj
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:40am P-90:

@Andrew: that's so fucked up, Isis is a name with so many positive, particularly female-empowering connotations.
And Joanna Cameron looked so good in those boots...
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:41am Matt from Springfield:

Splendid! :)

It should star the late Bob Denver, in a Gilligans Island-Far Out Space Nuts combo of getting to close to an A-bomb and being able to live undersea with these cartoon mutant talking creatures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:41am Julie:

I loved that show Isis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 12:42am Ken From Hyde Park:

More pledges must be rolling in. The counter shows 99% now.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:42am Matt from Springfield:

So does Dave Hill!
Deflect this wonderful name from evil--refer to the terrorists as the "Daesh Douchebags" from now on!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:42am Andrew Waterloo:

it's not like the Egyptian Isis is an obscure concept.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:42am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Danne D, welcome!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:43am Matt from Springfield:

@Andrew: And I had already pointed out on a Dave Hill playlist that they named themselves after a pagan Egyptian goddess, so ought to behead themselves, just to be safe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 12:44am Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey Danne D, you heard who won the trip to Primavera Sound?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:44am Julie:

hey there Danne!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:44am Andrew Waterloo:

It looks like ISIS is going to implode because they can't agree on a flavour of crazy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:44am JakeGould:

@Julie: My childhood crushes were on Kristy McNichol and Joanna Cameron (aka: Isis).
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:45am Matt from Springfield:

Ben from NYC. Might it be "Studio B Ben"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:45am Caryn:

Don't the frigging terrorists have alternative names like ISIL anyway? The news should use those so that the lovely name Isis wouldn't have to constantly be connected with the bs.

@Matt: hah!

@Ken from HP: to be fair, Ken said it was 99 % when he ended the Marathon. But I think pledges will continue to trickle in today and tomorrow at least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:45am Julie:

I saw Joanna in some tv movie about Miss America with Farrah Fawcett she was cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:45am JakeGould:

So you are all saying that Isis needs some better project managment?
  Mon. 3/23/15 12:47am P-90:

Yo Danne! I still think Goddamn Dave should contact Joanna Cameron about doing an "Isis vs. ISIS" comedy thingie. Could be a running, episodic bit, she could participate by phone from Cali...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:47am JakeGould:

And here she is as a “Union Oil Sparkle Girl” youtu.be/2n7cJhkfnP4
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:48am JakeGould:

And here she is as a “Union Oil Sparkle Girl” youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:50am Ike:

@Caryn@12:34, that's actually more or less the concept behind most of the weird characters in Adventure Time, minus the sea part.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:50am Matt from Springfield:

An increasingly "hazy fantasy" this has become!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:52am Caryn:

@Ike: true. I guess we could say that radioactivity has moved on from just giving us memorable monsters like Godzilla to giving us popular animated characters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:53am Andrew Waterloo:

I perfectly understand this Johanna Cameron crush thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 12:54am Ken From Hyde Park:

I heard Shaina (from Dave Hill's show) had a baby boy and named him Monty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 12:54am Andrew Waterloo:

I have the Kraftwerk song stuck in my head now.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 12:55am Matt from Springfield:

"Monte" to be exact, but good to know the delivery went through fine!

RRN63 can provide a custom astrological chart, once we know the date and time of birth...

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 12:56am Ken From Hyde Park:

Ah, cool. Thanks, Matt.

Clay Pigeon, you're getting closer to your fans! Nice job, yerself! :)
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:00am Clay Pigeon:

Thanks, Caryn. It was so much fun. I envy your snow. Ski season is ending. Thank you, Matt! Hey why don't I have a heart thing. I pledged!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:01am Julie:

Clay is a rock star
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:01am Raika:

Clay! you were the highlight of Hoof n Mouth for me this year. it was awesome
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:02am P-90:

@Jake: There you go, maybe ISIS should deploy some Islamic State Sparkle Girls to freshen their image
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:02am Clay Pigeon:

I am old Julie. Ha! Those high notes killed me. Aww thank you Raika. Jules have a good show. I have to crash and rejoin society tomorrow. Ugh. Thanks for pledging everyone!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:03am Julie:

Nite Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:04am JakeGould:

@P-90: Yup! And that commercial is funny 1970s sexist-not-sexist. Meaning the guy in the car says she isn’t going to help them sell gas. Then they explain she’s a “Sparkle Girl” comes by and smiles at the guy. Then the guy is all “Fill er up again!” But regardless, she is wearing a nice outfit and doing a good job making an oily, frimy gas station “sparkle.”
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:04am Matt from Springfield:

Good night Clay!

And hello, Nanase Hikaru! Lovely to hear the music-box of "jibrille-silent mourning" again!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:05am JakeGould:

@Clay: “Hey why don't I have a heart thing. I pledged!” It means the computer doesn’t personally like you.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:05am P-90:

Pleasant dreams, Clay!
And: Welcome Monte F-Berg!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:05am Caryn:

@P-90: apparently, ISIS has employed more Sparkle Boys. Lots of propaganda vids apparently focus on young, pretty-boy ISIS members to try and attract tween and teen girls to join up. Sheesh.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:08am P-90:

apparently there's no twisted thing I can dream up that doesn't have an even more twisted real-life counterpart...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:09am Andrew Waterloo:

It's been fun but time for me to crash.. g'night all.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:09am Matt from Springfield:

"Whatevershebringswesing", wonderful title. Julie really finds great album titles, like "If The Sky Falls, We shall Catch The Larks" and of course "My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair... But Now They're Content To Wear Stars On Their Brows" :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:11am Julie:

nite Andrew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:11am JakeGould:

Just listened to ZZ Top’s “La Grange” and sounds like this T.Rex “Visions of Domino” in it’s own way.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:12am P-90:

Goodnight Andrew
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:12am Caryn:

@P-90: several months back, 3 UK girls were caught on the border on their way to "meet their new cute boyfriends in Iraq". Of course, it gets even darker because any girls that end up with ISIS are used as sex slaves and passed around as gifts for fighters (that's how they lure the guys to join). ISIS also buys kidnapped girls (like some of the ones Boko Haram kidnapped) for the same purposes. Ugh.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:12am Matt from Springfield:

Very true, there is a similarity of rhythm. Tell that to BGZ, he was born in La Grange and is a station expert on that song.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:13am Matt from Springfield:

Crash, and arise refreshed Andrew!

"Voices Carry" cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:13am JakeGould:

Early ZZ Top is pretty great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:16am JakeGould:

I don’t know about anyone else, but this rebound winter in NYC is really a downer. Looking forward to Thursday and Friday when it’s like springish and in the 50s.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:17am Matt from Springfield:

In Our Lives, we've loved WFMU more.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:18am Matt from Springfield:

Nice and 'gazey and hazy! Now I'm wondering what kind of album sequence this originally appeared in on the Meeks, if there were any other covers in their track listing..
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:18am Julie:

the whole thing is Beatles Cover..hence Beatless
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:20am Danne D:

M_f_S :) Ken From Hyde Park :) I can check the tape on the winner of Barcelona as I did record that bit.

Hey P-90 :) You should call and suggest that :)

And yes, Shaina had a baby boy Thursday night - Baby Monty :)

Clay brings everyone together :) Truly. He's like the ribbon around it all. Have a good night sir :)

I think I caught up on all the comments :)
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:23am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Danne!
And if you fall asleep, I'll tweet any other comments to your dreams :)
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:24am Danne D:

@Ken From Hyde Park - do you still need me to dig up the name of the winner?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/23/15 1:24am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Danne D - I didn't hear the announcement very well myself. Last name was Krakauer or something similar to that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:25am Caryn:

Ben Krakauer/Krakower? from NYC
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:25am P-90:

@Matt: Wait, who's your carrier? Sprint doesn't offer that feature
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:26am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Silicon Valley introduced that technology years ago, but you have a point - I don't want to dream-tweet if there's a huge roaming charge with it.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:28am Danne D:

@Caryn yeah that's what it says on my recording too :)

Should be easier for FMU to coordinate travel, eh? :)

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:28am JakeGould:

@DanneD: I said that T.Rex “Visions of Domino” sounds like ZZ Top’s “La Grange.” Hope you are cool with that.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:28am pp:

good selections
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:29am JakeGould:

For a second I thought that was Steeleye Span.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:29am Matt from Springfield:

Oh wow, Wm. Berger played this previously, and got a lot of Clicky-Stars from it--he's got great taste, alright!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:30am Danne D:

@JakeGould I'll have to go to the committee on that one I think
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:31am Danne D:

(imaginary authority certainly requires an imaginary committee as well, I think)
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:31am Matt from Springfield:

Carole King's "The Legendary Demos" is a GREAT album! I asked for this for Xmas so I could get the liner notes and copy it for my folks. I highly rec!

@Danne: true, and will give the winner the chance to see the "tipsy on airplane booze" version of the DJs until the "totally wasted at the end of a long festival day" version hits them. Of course, probably a bit more expensive than a plane trip from the UK or Germany or somewhere to Spain.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:32am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: I once suggested as a route to prog for WFMU "indie" listeners: go from Nick Drake, to Fairport Convention, to Steeleye Span, to Mike Oldfield and points beyond. So your observation certainly strikes an underlying element.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:34am P-90:

Don't forget Renaissance, the third leg of the tripod with Fairport and Steeleye...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:35am JakeGould:

@Matt: Not a bad idea, but I’ll explain my relationship to prog rock like this… While I knew some friends growing up in the late-1970s/early-1980s who dealt with puberty by playing Dungeons & Dragons, I became OCD about “Rush” during those awkward years. So to me, it’s all a phase… Clay’s passion for it I admire, but the music itself is crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:36am Caryn:

Later this week will be the official royal funeral for Richard III. Better late than never!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:36am JakeGould:

@P-90: Do people LARP at Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention or Renaissance shows?
Avatar    Mon. 3/23/15 1:37am Guido from Cologne:

Hello Julie !!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:37am Julie:

Good morning Guido!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:38am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Renaissance! A wonderful leg in that world!
@Jake: So you're more "obsessed" about Rush than actually "liking" it? ;)

@Caryn: I was wondering why people were gathering to commemorate R III! Then I remembered that they'd found his body beneath a "carpark" recently. So whether his reputation was warranted or not, it would be a fun thing to see a 500+ year reburial procession of a in/famous king.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:39am P-90:

...still pissed off that I missed the official royal funeral for Richard Burton...
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:39am Matt from Springfield:

Wha?! Is this from Lou's critically-panned collab with Giorgio Moroder, "LuiGi"? ;D
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:40am Julie:

This song doesn't really go anywhere does it
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:40am Julie:

No this is The Bells, 1979
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:40am JakeGould:

@Matt: I was more OCD about “Rush” in a fanboy way when I first listened to them as an awkward teen. I still can listen to some of their stuff, but to me it’s a vestige of the past and a surge or hormones and acne.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:41am P-90:

Almost a "Lou Zappa" tune
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:41am Matt from Springfield:

I was kiddin' Julie :) But I haven't heard of The Bells, have you ever played anything else from this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:42am Julie:

Nope first time
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:42am JakeGould:

Prog rock always sounds like some magical wizard’s fantasy world and the music is just some “hook” to get you to believe there is more depth there than there is. Disco… Disco Mystic… Disco… Disco Mystic… Disco… Disco Mystic… Disco… Disco Mystic… Disco… Disco Mystic… And Lou Reed could lay a few turds it seems.
Avatar    Mon. 3/23/15 1:43am Guido from Cologne:

The Bells is a weaker attempt to follow the Bowie & Iggy Berlin records. If I remember right it is recorded at Can Studios (Inner Space) by Can technican Rene Tinner.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:43am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Indeed! That one would have a spoken monologue in the middle verging into "Bobby Brown"/"Joe's Garage" territory...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:44am Julie:

the moroder thing was so believable
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:44am Matt from Springfield:

Great expertise on Lou when we needed it, thanks Guido!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:44am Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: Well then I'm quite flattered, Jules... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:44am Caryn:

@Matt: yep, the funeral procession yesterday was already fun, with actual old-timey armour on guys on horseback. Here's hoping that continues at the actual funeral.
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:45am P-90:

TZAG Guido! Thanks for the background, now I'm curious to hear more of The Bells.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:46am JakeGould:

The Osmonds seem to have passed by someone smoking jazz cigarettes when they came up with this one.
Avatar    Mon. 3/23/15 1:47am Guido from Cologne:

Nevertheless "The Bells" got warm reviews in in German music press at the time.

Lou's reputation wasn't very good over here in 1979. Erratic behaviour on stage. promoter Fritz Rau was quoted "This guy doesn't belong to any stage in the world".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:48am JakeGould:

@Guido: I can easily see a pompous “respect” for Lou Reed killing his song writing on “The Bells.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:49am Julie:

@Jake The Plan and Crazy Horses have all sorts of weird psychedelic attempts on them
  Mon. 3/23/15 1:49am P-90:

Being Lou Reed at the peak of the Disco era couldn't have been much fun.
Avatar    Mon. 3/23/15 1:52am Guido from Cologne:

I guess for drug problems or something. He was reported fist fight with audience, etc.. Velvet Underground was all but forgotten in most part of continental Europe and just about to be re-discovered. All the people wanted to hear was "Wild Side".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 1:52am JakeGould:

@Julie: Key word is “attempts.” It’s someone gave the Osmonds a Pepsi, then some Chamomile tea followed by nutmeg and then they went “nuts.”
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:53am Matt from Springfield:

Echoes of Kate in this Grimes!
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 1:53am Danne D:

Nighty, Ken HP!

@Julie: Their Wiki page has a recent picture of them with Carole K. and Carole Bayer Sager - I'm surprised they're still together, out of all those Brill Building "couples" teams back in the day, everyone else split long ago.
Avatar Mon. 3/23/15 2:06am Matt from Springfield:

Oh btw, Intenna = SWEET!! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 2:07am Julie:

I think they weren't in the Brill Building, unless they changed that for the play. There was a line, "This ain't the Brill building." Don Kirschner was there
  Mon. 3/23/15 2:10am P-90:

LOVE this Intenna. The bass player is fab.

This "Black Hit of Space" also has a certain personal memory thing for me. Last record when they were recepted as kind of "experimental".

Good ol' Human League. And extra points for mentioning Buck Rogers right in the first verse.

Even though WFMU didn't make the goal, at least I've been enjoying all the e,pert DJing since the Hoof & Mouth, & at least I know that whenever I buy something with Amazon Smile, WFMU gets some money
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/23/15 2:44am JakeGould:

@Julie: I think Guido likes the show. Coming from an Eastern European family I heard the word, “Anway…” all the time in odd places. And with that I will enter the land of nod. Do widzenia!
