	3:56pm JakeGould: This past winter one of my “stuck indoors” pastimes was to setup MAME on my Mac but only with the games I grew up playing. So it’s mainly the dumb video games from the 1970s and early 1980s. No deep plot, but THAT is my video game world. Fascinating how Space Invaders still grabs me, but other games just don’t.
	3:57pm cory: Munchkin is a really great 2 player game. haven't tried more than that though. we also really like Ticket To Ride.
	3:57pm Cecile: I like cribbage. And Galaga. And Plants vs. Zombies. And Auro.

	3:58pm JakeGould: The video games taper off around 1982 and the oldest I care about is 1985. Mr. Do became an OCD thing. Geez that game.

	♥ 3:59pm Caryn: @JakeGould: yep, today's first-person shooters, strategy games or complex MMORPGs don't grab me, but give me Space Invaders or some old-timey Commodore 64 games, I'm all over it.
	3:59pm Cecile: I like a lot of the Who, but they had to grow on me, and they never sounded as loud and dirty as rock critics would have me believe.

	4:01pm d¢ pät: well the Who were first and foremost a pop group that also happened to play really loud live with feedback and stuff. Once you get that you sort of see where the studio albums come from. The Kinks sound more rough than the Who did.
	4:02pm JakeGould: For me, I remember first seeing “Chiller”—the arcade game—where you just shoot and mutilate in 8-bit and I wasn’t disgusted by it as much as… Why would I want to spend time doing that? Had to be 1986 when I saw that.

	♥ 4:03pm Caryn: Yeah, The Who had loud live shows and the craziness of Keith Moon. Otherwise, they weren't very rough or wild.

	4:04pm d¢ pät: I love the first 4 albums but the synth shit leaves me tapping my foot now.
	4:04pm Cecile: Yeah. I definitely preferred the Kinks, Creation and Move.
	4:04pm cory: i had a drummer friend once tell me that keith moon wasn't very good. he's since come out as a bassist.

	4:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: - It's important that The Wh♂ were the 1st band w/ six-foot amps (Marshal stacks) - when The Beatles were still in suits. The Kinks & Yardbirds were significant too in pioneering what we now call 'Hard Rock' &/or Guitar Rawk. Also the American Garage people like the Sonics (& their antecedents in Rockabilly like Link Wray & Surf like Dick Dale - who would blow amplifiers pushing them). These were the link between the energy of James Brown & Little Richard to the age of Amplifiers...What we think of now as Loud Metallic Rawk didn't begin to even be possible until the late 60s. Then The Wh♂ became pretty Heavy & less Mod; Townshend: 'People like Hendrix & Zep always stole from us - & we always stole back'...

However, you can pledge small amounts to individual shows, choose the "bill me" option, and then, when the Marathon is over, have Joe McG add all the pledges together into, say a SFL account and change the "bill me" into a monthly credit card payment. That's what I'm doing. I checked with Joe before the Marathon that that is still possible.

So it’s mainly the dumb video games from the 1970s and early 1980s. No deep plot, but THAT is my video game world. Fascinating how Space Invaders still grabs me, but other games just don’t.

These were the link between the energy of James Brown & Little Richard to the age of Amplifiers...What we think of now as Loud Metallic Rawk didn't begin to even be possible until the late 60s. Then The Wh♂ became pretty Heavy & less Mod; Townshend: 'People like Hendrix & Zep always stole from us - & we always stole back'...
