It appears to have been either (1) stolen and then very cleverly returned by someone stalking me; (2) slipped through an interdimensional portal for a couple of weeks; (3) been borrowed by the faeries, taken into the underworld and then returned, as is traditional in these isles. It showed up one of the pannier bags attached to my bike where it was last seen, and which I had checked thoroughly at least half a dozen times.
