@ScottC: Yeah, they're odd when you're used to 12" and 7" records.

...ratio of times Stockhausen mentioned to listened to?...
Avatar 11:12pm
Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: Mentioned more than listened to, I guess. At least here in the States.
  11:13pm
pacific standard simon:

What is so appealing about Stockhausen? Genius, of course, but I suspect there is also the weight of the works of all the composers who have, ahem, "borrowed" from him.

I only have 4-5 LPs of Stockhausen, and mayb 3 more on MP3, so that limits my options. I still think Kontakt is frickin' amazing.
Avatar 11:15pm
Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: Oh, I totally misread your question. But still, I guess he's a little more mentioned than listened to.

Wasn't Miles Davis listening Stockhausen's Hymnen when he wrecked his Ferrari?
  11:21pm
pacific standard simon:

The Santa Rosa public library was packed with Stockhausen records -- I don't know why. I devoured them all, as a teen geek, and racked up some hefty fines. Can't remember much at this late date, though -- should check it out soon.
