Hello Martha and all, happy new year!
Avatar 9:11pm
TDK60:

Wonderful insistent rhythm here.
  9:13pm
Martha:

Yes! - we are all about the rhythm here -
  9:17pm
Martha:

Especially if we can make it go, say, 33% faster than it is supposed to -
  9:18pm
blee:

EXACTLY!!!
  9:20pm
will:

You know, it gets hard to tear oneself away from WFMU, I say this is with no bias except that every time I tune in, and then really tune in, it is so mind bendingly great.
  9:21pm
Martha:

Thanks for the good words! - and for tuning in occasionally -

Solaris, apparently, are the bombdiggitydawg.
Avatar 9:22pm
TDK60:

Solaris sound like they're in the next canyon over.
  9:23pm

And while we're at it, is this prog rock? (Secret answers OK.)
Avatar 9:24pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Mick Farren: 'People called it Prog [instead of just Psych still] cause they didn't want to admit they were still taking drugs'...
Avatar 9:26pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...which is to say - the Proggier/Trippier side of Stoner Metal perhaps?...
  9:27pm
Martha:

I've never heard that quote before - it's awesome - and I love Mick Farren -
  9:32pm
Pete L in Columbus Ohio:

thanks for dispelling complete boredom!
is Solaris an old band? Awesome whatever
  9:34pm

I'm almost scared of my DJ (and it feels so good).
Avatar 9:35pm
TDK60:

Our DJ is not at the moment complacent.
  9:42pm
Martha:

Thanks all! - Solaris is old, Chicago in the 1970s -

The Solaris track really grew on me, half way through the song I felt like I NEED this album.
  9:53pm
Martha:

It's a great re-issue - highly recommended - mix of heavy and not so heavy tracks -
  9:57pm
JakeGould:

This is a very Patchouli and velvet version of “Girl Like You.”

Jake: Or Paisley Underground-like?
  10:01pm
will:

Martha, where to get a Solaris CD reissue, all I find on the web are a bunch of MP3s.
  10:02pm
Martha:

Good call - nice description - I don't think these guys could find their way out of a phone booth w/out a guiding hand -
  10:09pm
JakeGould:

“Or Paisley Underground-like?” Same velvet, same Patchouli…
  10:10pm
JakeGould:

Martha, so you are saying that cover of “Girl Like You” was perhaps performed by a Florida couple “trapped” in an unlocked closet for two days? www.orlandosentinel.com...
  10:11pm
Martha:

That came out on Numero Group - we have it on vinyl but perhaps it is limited and may come out on CD later? - I can't seem to get through to their web site - and the usual suspects (Aquarius, etc.) don't seem to have it - no info in the record sleeve - if I find something I'll post it -
  10:12pm
Martha:

Hmm...I am not sure that folks with neck tattoos are capable of that kind of artistry -

definitely not nauseous

Will, seems like only LP or MP3. If you want, we can see about carving a 78 for you. www.numerogroup.com...

Hey, I'm in Cincinnati OH! Ohio representing tonight!

Cooh John:

Yes TDK90--you name reminds me of an old music format. The clubs are still there, the names keep changing. There are some new and interesting ones that have popped up not on High St. Hey braveness23, OH is the heart of it. I like to check out the Southgate House now and then.

Bootsie:

That Edwyn Collins song is a fave of mine and I loved that groovy cover. The Black Keys did a pretty spot-on cover of it when I last saw them.
