Oh hey, man! What time am I on there? 11? ...I only asked b/c I haven't talked to the Kallathon guy in a few, thought it might be him. BUT YOU ARE JUST AS GOOD, OR BETTER!

Im usually listening to a show my friend Ken Wong does on WLUW in town on the same time as your show called "Reality Radio".

What Mike said (12:18) - usually an archive lurker, but certain votey events have the Rev working mega-late. Good to dig this in (un)real time.

I hate it when people just chime in on this board to correct others or say sarcastic shit. It's WAY too easy, much harder to be funny / astute, or actually say something that applies to the show. No half-hour time zones? God, you're so SMART!!!

Ok, I'm a geographer, so I should no this, Howe Island and the Chatman Islands are 3/4th of an hour off. Venezuela, Newfoundland, India, Myanmar, Iran and Central Australia is 1/2 hour off.

Been caught up in image research on WWI gas attacks in Europe, with all this heaviness boiling away in the headphones. It works.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49am
Ken From Hyde Park:

I was looking at some time zone map the other day when DST finished. There are a few places that have half-hour time zones. NGH probably summed them up.
Avatar 12:50am

Apparently, I care for the trivial, it's one of the few things I'm good at. Stochastical scraps of knowledge on the WFMU comments boards is one of the few ways I learn stuff these days.

I'm half-off. Like day-old sushi. Rev, ever hear "Victims of a Gas Attack" by NineShocksTerror? Love to play it, but I doubt it's here. ...my copy @ home.

...and being wrong, for me, is the best way to sear into my memory, new knowledge.

@northguin.. thanks i thought all time zones worked by one hour ... i always wonder what its like to live along the dividing line.. weird

Rev, the images w/ the horse - specific gas masks and the cavalry officers is tre effed. (and the ones w/ the dogs)
Avatar 12:54am

Russia, should be 13 time zones, until 2009, they were 11, and now they are 8. China should be 6 time zones, but is one (that says a lot).
Avatar 12:55am
Rev. Turnip Druid:

I've not heard that one, WB. Curious now… And yep, NGH, that's exactly where I was headed. The weird portraits of troops with horses, all masked. Wonderful stuff.
Avatar 12:56am

@northguinea--- weird..

That death-rattle bass (primitive man track) is a gas-attack right there.
Avatar 12:59am

Dan Carlin's Hardcore History has a good podcast series on WWI, and not too biased one way or another (albeit leaning to the idea of the futility of the whole war, and the mistakes made), and his podcasts on the Mongol Empire are recommended.

Do send links! I'm a gas-mask photo addict. Ever see the one with the couple kissing, mask to mask? I guess that's more "art," as opp. to a field shot, but it's a marvelously creepy aesthetic vision. ...

Yes, House of 1,000 Corpses is very good, too. When he was still in his "homage" phase, wearing his influences nicely on his sleeve, and not taking himself too seriously. Now, he's an auteur!
