Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Excerpt - Return of the Jedi - Record Fair Find
Bryan Adams  Let Me Take You Dancing   Favoriting   A&M Disco  1979  12"  Yes ... THAT Bryan Adams. An early disco hit that he wasn't too proud of, though I kind of like it.

An Interview with Scotty - A Traveler from Australia
Sweet  Mother Earth   Favoriting Cut Above The Rest  EMI  1979  LP  Late (last?) period Sweet release. Sans lead singer BRian Connolly who had left the group. A pretty decent record with a lot of hallmark Sweet harmonies.

An Interview with D at Madison Square Garden
Tab Hunter  Ninety-Nine Ways   Favoriting   Dot  1957  45  Better known as an actor, here's Tab singing kinda Pat Boone-ishly on Dot. Not a record fair find, but a leftover from the previous week's Dusty. A flea-fail interloper.
White Sister    White Sister  EMI  1984    Produced by Gregg Guiffria of Angel.

An Interview with Susan from Ireland via Daytona Beach
Guy Drake  Welfare Cadillac   Favoriting   Trip Universal  1970  45  I actually kind of love this.

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. I won't lament to you anymore about how I used to have more TIME to put shows together, since I've whined about that at length and, after all, who does have any time these days?! I enjoy interviewing people, but it is a bit of a daunting prospect each week. WHen I imagine doing it, it always sounds fun, but actually venturing out there into the masses with my little microcassette recorder is often more difficult than it seems. It takes a good deal of psychic energy to foist myself out there and into peoples faces in a way that they won't tell me to F-off or reject me outright.

Last week I was talking to volunteer Samantha at the station and she alluded to a show from a few weeks back. Perhaps you remember it. I was LIVE from Union Square Park with a film crew. Unfortunately, we had technical problems and Samantha played an OLD episode of Mondo Eclectica, a show I produced for WMNF in Tampa from 1998-2005ish. She mentioned how moving it was and how personal, and I got that awful feeling of thinking that I used to be so much better than I am now. Maybe I was. I do invite you to go waaaaaay back in the archives and check out early work. I'm sure that, as it is with bands and music, there is something about the "early days" that captures magic and freshness in a way that is hard to hold onto as the years roll by. The show has gone through many, many changes, though some things stay the same. It is definitely more news-oriented than it used to be and perhaps less-arty to my chagrine. I wionder sometimes if I should stop doing it, but I hope that you still enjoy the programs. Once in a while I still find some old magic. I still enjoy making programs and you know, honestly, there is never any real way to "go back" and do things like you "used to." Times and people change. The past is irretrievable. If it was accessible, a nostalgic guy like me would be lost back there, riding my stingray around in circles in some gravel parking lot, dreaming of dilly bars and electric football games. But here we are in the now ... 2014 ... and soon that will just be some old year from the past. I'm glad you're still around, whoever you are. I really am. Without you, the show has no meaning. Thank you and always remember. Clay Pigeon NYC 6/16/14 Love

Were you confident you'd get out safely or did you envision your own death in the elevator? Did the thought of it dropping loose and plummeting to the bottom cross your mind?

sFrances from PDX:

Fun fact: I used to be an elevator operator in DC, one of the last hand operated elevators in the city at that time (1981).
Doesn't make me any less ascared of getting stuck in one!

I worked the REO Speedwagon show at the Seminole Hard Rock May 24th... I was at the casino from 9AM until after load out. Got home 2AM. That was the second REO show I worked since last November 2013. I think Kevin Cronin is starting to know my face. We first locked eyes at the Bayfront Center REO concert in 1978.

@ Clay: It would have made a better story if you had been a married, middle-aged bohemian stuck in an elevator with a vivacious, curvaceous 22-year old lady-
