@ Carmichael: Space Heater has accordion a-plenty.
  12:09pm
Dean:

I'll hold you to it. But in fact it's mea culpa. My collection included two SH LPs along with the Windchase LP before the grand purge of the late '80s, when I regrettably unloaded a number of records.

Hi Tony, anything symphonic amongst today's tape hissiness?
Avatar 12:22pm

Hey ? Nothing symphonic, exactly, but Xcranieum are proggers and Armageddon is hard rock/heavy metal. Those will be the last two tapes.

sounds good - will carry on hissening!

@ Dean: Nope! My Armageddon is from California and the '90s.

Wow, there's the Swedish Armageddon from '74, and the Keith Relf British Armageddon. No mention of California.
Avatar 12:36pm

Guess it's one of those names that occurs to a lot of people! The Armageddon I'll be playing is a demo tape. Not sure if the stuff was ever released.

Tape Hiss has inspired me to collect and reprint a bunch of my old zine stuff from the early 90s.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm

It was a low-distribution series of collage and satirical text cut-ups named Loose Noose. Mostly advertised through Factsheet 5. I'm scanning and editing, then will hand bind some collections. Send you one when it's done.

Avatar 1:01pm

@ Carmichael: Yeah, the original blogpost was mine. Someone linked to it and the track I posted. They then added that photo -- which may or may not really be the band. (Doesn't look like a '90s band, somehow.)

Howdy y'all. Yep, saw the Spuds recently opening for (and blowing off the stage) Blondie. 'Twas the third time I'd seen 'em, and am glad I did.

Dean:

Something tells me this might be the Manish Tandon of your Armageddon: http://butterthiefmusic.com/about/ See the para. beginning, "Tandon cut his teeth on the speed metal circuit growing up in LA..." And could this be the same Chris Khatchaturian? http://www.avdentist.com/palmdale-dentist.htm#chris Ages and locations of these guys seem right (although Glandale probably has an inordinate number of Chris Khatchaturians.)

There used to be a giant paper bag manufacturer where I grew up called Bemis Bag. Employed thousands of people. I think they folded (pun intended) years ago or outsourced their production to the lowest bidder in some 3rd world country.
One of the reasons the Pacific NW has become Methlandia. Or Heroinlandia. Take your pick.
