@12539: Proud to say I've never owned an Eagles record in any format.

@RRN63: I don't think they really know how to play their instruments.

@PSS: Depends on which noises you're talking about. But maybe this isn't the best place for me to ask.

I admire the The Eagles because they did everything wrong (singing drummer, too many guitars, too country, etc.), but sold gazillions of albums. How did they get away with it? Deal with Satan on Hotel CA?

DM, Thanks for praising R&tL so I wouldn't have to leave the kitchen (errr, too late). They were incredibly creative using almost nothing more than tape speed and ring modulator. Elbow is Taboo is a desert-island disc. Unmatched creativity.

Michael Fennelly was in The Millennium w/Curt Boettcher, et al. (Columbia, 1968).

Irwin, Stephen Colbert copied your comment the other day. OK, so it was about NYT reports on college girls having sex, rather than NYT on the supposed comeback of vinyl, but close enough: www.colbertnation.com...

Ike, They're refining the message. I'm sure college girls having sex outsells vinyl, 8-track, and cassette, combined. It's not obvious and might take some time for NYT reporters to figure that out.

Dave ,tou brought to mind a time in highschool. My hobby was sneaking in to concerts.I was at the Hollywood Bowl for a Hendrix soundcheck.maybe 3:00pm,Soft machine had just finished their soundcheck&Vanilla Fudge was also on the bill that night.Mitch Mitchell goes over & starts playing on Carmine Appice's drums.Carmine gets furious & physically lifts & drags Miitchell away from his drums. The whole time Mitchell never acknowledges Appice. He just keeps playing even when its all air .I got thrwn out of the soundcheck, but not until after I was treated to 45min.of Hendrix playing sunshine of your love, completelly alone
