Dave, all this talk of the song Windy brings back a memory of growing up in Queens in the 70's. Do you recall a very un-politically correct rewrite of the song that referenced a certain former mayor of NYC? I've yet to meet anyone in my adult life who remembers this.

I read recently in the New York Times that vinyl is making a comeback. I also read it in the NYT two years ago. In 2005 I read in the Times that vinyl is making a surprising comeback. That reprised a theme that appeared in the Times in 2002. As early as 1995 the NYT was reporting that vinyl is making a big comeback. Dave, have you heard anything about this?

Is the late night PATH really that unreliable? The late night schedule is frustrating and ridiculously infrequent, but it's almost always on time with its in my (admittedly limited) experience. Reading the schedule can be a pain in the dingus, though.

Flipping around the dial this afternoon, I came across a Philly AM mainly-talk station playing an all-Sinatra music show. An ad came on. You'll never guess which one. G, that's the spot where I usually check to see what WPRB or (if I can get it) the Drexel station are playing. Or even WXPN, which isn't completely hopeless. Or WGLS, which is usually playing something cheesy and terrible, but not always. I'd have to be really desperate to resort to AM.

@Ike: The FM stations are pretty vile, too, and I just keep pressing scan till I have to switch bands and try again. Can't really look at the dial. It's a little too congested to be doing that at 75-85 :)

Every radio lover needs an HD radio. Semi-dead formats like Oldies and baroque/chamber are hidden away on HD stations. And advertisers know nobody is listening so they rarely buy the ad time and some HD channels are completely ad-free.

Congested, G? Try I-295 until exit 56 (connects to Turnpike exit 7) for MUCH less traffic. You'll be able to switch stations more easily for those first 56 miles northbound. :)
