HW, I like to buy the jalapeño cheddar soft cheese at Trader Joes to mix in with ebow macaroni.

Haven't been able to make Kurt's theme come to life. All by myself at home.

I now have to groom myself for a face-to-face interview. Can never tell how to approach these things, but, since it's a City agency, I'm going conservative. My last job, I showed up clean-cut w/ a tie, and my interviewers were in hoodies and jeans.... that was awkward.

Avatar 5:08pm

but then again i work in tech, maybe its different in your world...
Avatar 5:10pm
northguineahills:

Well, most of the work will be for the NYFD, so, I should go for a conservative look. My full beard comes in w/in 9 days, so that's not a problem. It's the private startups and tech firms that are casual. (i'm going to miss working in cutoff polyester shorts and threadbare tees.)

has anybody ever tried making arty type stuff by swapping toner around in a printer and then printing images out? i.e. black for cyan, red for yellow, that sort of thing?

@OD: I thought it was to receive signals from Alpha Centauri.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm

I work 100% online. The last time I had a face to face interview was somewhere in the 90s.

Clothes worn aren't relevant to the core tasks of many professional jobs, but they are atavistically important to the socioaesthetic preferences of the members of many organizations.

Socioaesthetic Preferences... I need to ponder that outside while it's still sunny out. Back in an hour or two.

Avatar 5:16pm

ngh, you're already officially hired, no? i guess you should dress nice at first to be safe, but doesn't every non corporate entity expect their tech related people to dress casual by now? i work as a freelancer for a big insurance company and no one bats an eyelash when i show up in jeans and sneakers...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm

I'm not white collar, or blue collar, I'm no collar. Every job I've had has been teeshirt appropriate.

I only iron stuff when I go to formal weddings.

I'll have to see how the work layout is before I can tell what to wear. When I worked for the federal gov't, I had to wear a suit and tie, but they didn't understand tech. For the City, usually a polo and nice jeans.
