  1:10am
Matt from Springfield:

Going fantastically tonight!

Man, I need to check that Joni cover set!
What tune was "Je N'ai Rien Appris"? "Both Sides Now" a français?
Avatar 1:11am
Joe McG:

Yes, indeed, Matt! I've been in a mellow mood tonight.
  1:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Great guess then! :)
Mellow is good! The holidays are stressful enough, so I'm glad other DJs have been going mellow of late.
  1:18am
Matt from Springfield:

"Graham Central Station is a funk band named after founder Larry Graham (formerly of Sly & the Family Stone)."
"In 2011, Graham Central Station opened for Prince on Prince's "Welcome 2 America" tour."

Interesting blend of soul, thanks for introducing us to them!
Avatar 1:20am
Joe McG:

You're welcome, Matt. I've dipped into that bag several times, but I always come up with an apple.
Avatar 1:23am
Joe McG:

Or a graham cracker.
  1:24am
Matt from Springfield:

A savory apple pie, with graham cracker crust of course.
Avatar 1:26am
Joe McG:

Yum. Ever make a pudding pie? That's where you get a graham cracker crust and dump pudding in it. Then you eat it.
  1:27am
Ruby:

Dear DJ, disabled listening on a hand me down HP laptop which overheats and wheezes blissfully. The music is being transmitted, for now. Thanks! (WA state)
Avatar 1:29am
Joe McG:

Hi, Ruby, I love your name. Hello to the State of Washington.
  1:30am
Matt from Springfield:

My grandma has made chocolate pudding pie, on regular, graham cracker and Oreo crusts. But I imagine banana pudding would be amazing, kinda like the Nilla wafer and sliced banana mix you can make.

Incidentally, WA state brings us Ruby Red Apples :) Welcome Ruby!

Zebtron A. Rama:

Salute from Plattsburgh, NY.
  1:37am
Matt from Springfield:

Even better than Christmas music was that "winter folk" episode you did! Though I could see if you don't want to stretch one theme too far.
  1:37am
Matt from Springfield:

Salut, Zebtron! LOVE your moniker!
Avatar 1:37am
Joe McG:

@ANdrew: That's one gorgeous box. That one we DO have. Hey, Plattsburgh!

Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe. McGuinn was always good at recording other peoples songs before they did. He had Dylan's 'Up to Me' on the same album & it had not be recorded by the man. Same with Dreamland. Did the same with early Fogelberg.
  1:44am
sweet cheri:

joe i'm really looking forward to your xnas show,,don't you just love the holiday season as much as i do?
  1:44am
Andrew Waterloo:

My first Christmas back home I learned not to ask for money. It was just really lame opening up a handful of cards.
  1:45am
Matt from Springfield:

Morning Brian! Didn't know McGuinn recorded early Fogelberg.
  1:46am
Matt from Springfield:

Lil' Red Riding Hood, Sometimes! This is a funky one!

Brian in UK:

Peace on You album. Forget the track. Too early. He does a great cover of Al Kooper's Please Not (One More Time) Think the brackets are in the right place. You could do a whole show on bracketed titles!!
  1:51am

"Jeux sans frontieres"?? YES!!!!! Und auf Deutsch! "Spiel ohne Grenzen" :)
EXCELLENT cut, from Peter Gabriel (III), the sounds typifies Peter's 1980 sound. I have also heard the German version of "Biko".

Avatar 2:37am
Joe McG:

I think that's why I love this woman's voice. Reminds me of Debbie.
  2:39am
Matt from Springfield:

That's true. If Blondie had gone in more of a chill electronica direction two decades ahead of trend, perhaps they would sound like this.
  2:42am
Matt from Springfield:

Speaking of two decades ahead of trend, it seems Harry James was already playing Lou Reed in the 40s! ;)
