Can we hear Rockaday Johnny singing "Tell Yer Ma, Tell Yer Pa, Our Love's A-Gonna Grow, Doo Wah, Doo Wah?"
  9:24pm
BDR:

Does hearing Clare and the Reasons tune and set-up in the background while you backlist count as bed music? Quandary!
Avatar 9:27pm
Dave M.:

Only if you can hear it. Could you? That would be the first bed music I've ever used.
  9:34pm
BDR:

Yup. it was there, faint, bass and drums, voices. You're still pristine; knew it wasn't you. Love the show.

Jesus, man, Stanley Clarke is very much alive and kicking. Saw him a couple of years ago (or more) in a reunion of Return to Forever. Here's his website: http://www.stanleyclarke.com/
  9:47pm
cubicle carl:

I remember an ad from the 70's for a Stanley Clarke album that read "Music without bass is music without life. Stanley Clarke creates life."

G:

wikipedia: "In 2010, Clarke released the Stanley Clarke Band, with Ruslan Sirota on keyboards and piano and Ronald Bruner, Jr. on drums; the album also features Hiromi on piano (as a guest artist), along with many others. On February 13, the Stanley Clarke Band won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album."

@Eric: Thanks. I know he's still alive, but I don't know what he was doing recently. I saw him live many years ago. He was a monster.

And thanks, @G.

A fine, fine show, enjoyed the live music, the Jimmy Giuffre piece killed, and now Columbia/Princeton's Babbitt; eclectic is too limiting a description.
