Evening, everyone.

Dave E.:

Hi Dave - how are things with you tonight?
Avatar 9:01pm
Dave M.:

Great, thanks. And you?
  9:02pm
Dave E.:

What musical treats do you have in store for us tonight>
  9:03pm
Dave E.:

I'm good, just sitting here enjoying the great music - Sunday's are great for it.
Avatar 9:05pm
Dave M.:

Yup, agreed. And no idea what I'll be playing. Seat of my pants.

doug lownote:

Don't get ahead of yourself. I'm already counting 6 great minutes of music, and you still have to spread the great out for another 2:54.
  9:08pm
Dave E.:

give tanks and praises to Jah de almighty
  9:14pm
Another Dave M. (in Montreal):

digging these unexpected Rasta sounds... whoops, what's this?
Avatar 9:15pm
Dave M.:

Les Batteries. And now, Fat.
  9:23pm
Dave E.:

can you play another track from Les Batteries?
  9:25pm
Another Dave M. (in Montreal):

100% great so far!
Avatar 9:29pm
Dave M.:

Thanks!
Avatar 9:30pm

@Dave: Mmmmm...not sure. I hate to repeat myself, but it's possible.

...and to think I mis-read last week's Kenny G/DM exchange as anti-Yes. I was waiting for an opportunity to pounce, but I am humbled.
. o ( Real Yes MUST include Bruford )
Avatar 9:58pm
Dave M.:

Nope, it was real. We both love this record. I generally agree about Bruford, but there are a few exceptions. I also liked a couple of the records Alan White played after the Bru left.
Avatar 9:58pm
Dave M.:

Played *on*

i love this show
Avatar 10:00pm

*blush*
  10:01pm
Droll:

That was hardly intended as a smear against Alan White! Genesis pulled off going pop, why do you fault Yes (for trying)?
Avatar 10:03pm
Dave M.:

Nothing personal, I just was never crazy about the stuff I heard post-'75 or whatever. I wasn't crazy about the pop Genesis either, and I was a BIG Genesis fan right up till then.
  10:09pm
Droll:

I guess I pounced anyways -- sorry. I'm overly-defensive of groups that gain a different/larger audience and are suddenly evaluated differently (i.e., Bee Gees).
Avatar 10:11pm
Dave M.:

Nah, that's OK. I know what you mean.
  10:11pm
sd:

this is more than 2% R&R - -and i love it!
Avatar 10:12pm
Dave M.:

Hard rock, not rock and roll!
  10:26pm
Dave:

Delve back into the Long Island sixties sound.....
Avatar 10:28pm
Dave M.:

That might be all for now. I'm going to move farther ooouuuuttttt with the next track. But still something that seriously rawks.

felix pappalardi was shot by his wife in 83. she claimed it was an accident got off with a lesser sentence and did two years. i think she did artwork for the mountain records and co wrote some songs for them and cream.
Avatar 10:36pm
Dave M.:

Thanks. I knew about Cream, of course. He also produced the Creation, among others. But I forgot when he was shot. I thought it was a little earlier than that. And I didn't know his wife got off.
  10:46pm
bloopy:

dave, does your daughter share same taste in music as you?
Avatar 10:48pm
Dave M.:

She likes most of what I listen to (well, the more pop stuff), but she listens almost exclusively to hip-hop. Big fan of Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé...
  11:01pm
bloopy:

great vibes. i wish there was a way you could "like" tracks on the playlist so you can go back to them :)
Avatar 11:03pm
Dave M.:

I think you can do something like that on the WFMU iPhone app, but I'm not sure. I use the app all the time but never that feature. If you have an iPhone, you should definitely check out the app.

Andrew Waterloo:

Musique Actualle in VictoriaVille usually happens around the end of May. Canada has another experimental jazz festival in Guelph the second week of September.
Avatar 11:55pm
Dave M.:

OK, thanks. I've actually been there (Victo) two or three times but not in a while.
  12:38pm
Michiel:

Thanks for a terrific show which opened my ears a bit more to music I wouldn't have heard otherwise. I was listening to it through online stream while on the road.

Listener Bob (2907):

Thanks for the early Yes track -- it's very odd to hear something that I haven't heard in 40 years. I agree about Yes and Genesis, too -- fan of their pre-1975 material.
