Hello Duane!
  12:04pm
northguineahills:

I love that cover of Some Velvet Morning. Actually, I heard it before the Lee Hazelwood/Nancy Sinatra version.
  12:04pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

Oops my name didn't fill in! That's better!
  12:04pm
Caryn:

Woohoo, it's time for Duane again! A long week of waiting is finally over!
  12:05pm
Cecile:

Hi, Duane!
Didn't see Levert Unsung - been under the weather, looking forward to bawling like a wee babby tonight.
  12:05pm
B23:

Yay! The playlist works again!
  12:06pm
Duane:

'Ello 'Ello!! Great to see you hear again Jan. Ngh: I concur..it's great..still can't top the OG..but still great!
Hello sweet Caryn..Cecile..I didn't see the Levert either/ lookin forward to it though!
  12:07pm
Mike East:

my throat hurts too much to drink coffee and I'm workin' on 5 hours sleep. I need some audio caffeine, duane!
  12:07pm
Cecile:

get out the Kleenex. i have no idea how Eddie Levert is walking, talking and standing anymore.
  12:11pm
Cecile:

wow, this is surprising coming from the "switch it" folks. Nice ballad.
  12:13pm
Jeremy Shatan:

Finally watched an Unsung - The Marvelettes. Excellent show!
  12:14pm
Duane:

Jeremy: Yes!!! One more new member of the cult! Welcome:)
  12:14pm
Cecile:

Isn't it, though? They do their homework.
  12:15pm
Cecile:

I wonder if you could get Al B. Sure! on your show? He does the Unsung voiceovers, doesn't he?
  12:17pm
Ike:

Hey @B23, so I wasn't the only one, eh? Ken's playlist worked for me in Chrome, but not Firefox. The slowness of this crappy old work box probably didn't help.
  12:18pm
Jeremy Shatan:

I hope they do a Little Willie John unsung...unfortunately there's practically no moving footage of him.
  12:19pm
Duane:

Cecile: Didn't know that was Al. B!!
  12:20pm
Cecile:

Yeah, that would be a great one, Jeremy. Or do a couple of R&B pioneers together. Even 20 minutes in prime time would be something.
  12:20pm
Woo:

Surving Monkees going on tour in November. Will Nesmith do all 12 dates? If the Beach Boys can keep a tour going, then...... sorry, I know this is off subject. What is the subject?
  12:22pm
Jeremy Shatan:

I loved that Delores Hall - fantastic bassline. More where that came from?
  12:22pm
Cecile:

Yup! i double-checked. He has such a great voice.
  12:22pm
Caryn:

Oh Woo, there is no subject. Carry on!
  12:23pm
Duane:

Woo: I heard about that....could be good. Nesmith and Dolenz are still in good voice
  12:23pm
Cecile:

woo, I wouldn't count on Nesmith to tell me it was raining, even though I was standing in a downpout. Talented guy, but lots of stuff going on in his noggin.
  12:24pm
Jeremy Shatan:

Nesmith doesn't have much stomach for the road - but 12 dates ain't so many. The "Yardbirds" are also doing a small tour. It's hilarious (or sad, depending on your POV) because there are only two original member left - Jim McCartey and Chris Dreja - and Dreja can't make the dates! Should it be The Yardbird?
  12:24pm
Aaron:

Hey Duane...Aaron @ Bastard Jazz tuning in from Brooklyn.. Great selections & vibes!
  12:25pm
Duane:

Aaron!! What's up man? played some of your joints last week!
  12:25pm
Cecile:

hahahahaha, Jeremy.
Well, at least they finally passed legistlation that says a band billing itself under its original name must have at least one original member.
  12:26pm
Cecile:

Too many fake Drifters and Coasters out there on the oldies circuit.
  12:27pm
Cecile:

Speaking of Drifters....get out of my head, Duane.
  12:27pm
robyn:

good morning everybody...nice, webster lewis. i really enjoyed what you played of him last week duane.
  12:28pm
Cecile:

me too, robyn.
  12:28pm
Duane:

hahahaha, Cecile!
robyn: Webster Lewis has some amazing albums. His disco funk was great stuff..passed way too soon!
  12:31pm
Cecile:

powerful, powerful voice.
  12:32pm
Jeremy Shatan:

Methinks I need to acquire this Webster Lewis album!
  12:33pm
Cecile:

hahahahahaha, Apollo Creed sings!
  12:34pm
robyn:

baby, i got a stew going.
  12:34pm
Jeremy Shatan:

And it's a love TKO!
  12:35pm
Caryn:

Oh if only Apollo Creed's nickname would've been "the sultan of soul"...
  12:35pm
Cecile:

robyn and jeremy, *dead*
  12:35pm
grubbus:

Stella!
  12:35pm
Duane:

yup! Apollo droppin panties as well as contenders!
  12:37pm
Caryn:

Here's hoping this is not followed by a Mr. T single. Or maybe I should hope for a Mr. T single? WFMU sometimes confuses me.
  12:37pm
Cheri Pi:

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one whose panties dropped *blush*
  12:38pm
robyn:

if only tobias knew that carl weathers was not just an action star, but a singer.
  12:39pm
Caryn:

Now I feel like I need to find Carl Weathers' album.
  12:39pm
Mariano:

Hey Duane, I hear you're Derrick Harriott's nephew... saw him at Sumfest in Jamaica in July. He was a surprise guest along with John Holt, U Roy, and one or two others. Great show!
  12:41pm
Cecile:

wow! That must have been just before he went on tour with Bowie.
  12:41pm
Caryn:

Man, I know Delores Hall more for her movie roles and her "Hair" bit than actual records.
  12:44pm
Jennique:

Carl Weathers - a lover AND a fighter (and a Predator victim).
  12:45pm
Cecile:

Action Jackson!
  12:45pm
Jeremy Shatan:

Good to have these guys back. First listen the other day (streaming at www.RollingStone.com) made me think it's slightly less edgy but more swinging than the last one.
  12:46pm
Duane:

Hi Mariano..yup, that's my unk! SO glad to hear that..he had a bit of a health scare in the wintertime, so it's good to see and hear he's back in biz!!
  12:47pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

Are you still going to try and get your uncle on the show sometime?
  12:49pm
Duane:

Jan: Oh Yeah..came thiiis close in January. Still trying to organize a phoner maybe. IT WILL HAPPEN!! Have faith!
  12:49pm
Jeremy Shatan:

If Derrick is on the show, Jan and I are coming over to be his gofers. You're in, right, Jan? Coffee, Mr. Harriott? Perhaps some hardo bread and Ting?
  12:50pm
Jeremy Shatan:

We should do that for you, too, Duane - you deserve it!
  12:50pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

Yup, I'm in...
  12:53pm
Mariano:

Oh, wow, Duane, didn't know about the health scare: he looked like he was in pretty good shape onstage, and his voice is great!
  12:53pm
Cecile:

I looked this up, and these are the guys from the South African Blue Notes - that group Doug S. loves so much.
  1:00pm
Cheri Pi:

man, i love this Duane.
  1:03pm
Jeremy Shatan:

Nile Rodgers would sue if he could stop dancing.
  1:06pm
Cecile:

Not to mention Kurtis Blow.
  1:08pm
robyn:

this reminds me of the World Famous Supreme Team. Always a good thing!
  1:14pm
robyn:

loving the zoovox, too.
  1:14pm
Eli:

Good news boppers
  1:17pm
Eli:

This 49ers track is a heatrock
  1:19pm
robyn:

yeah, this is one of the reasons i wish i was a teenager in the early 90s.
  1:21pm
Cecile:

Robyn, sometimes I think that, too! Anyway, have a great day, I have lunch & meetings so see folks whenever! Great show, Duane.
  1:25pm
trouble:

  1:25pm

  2:01pm
Cheri Pi:
