Listener comments!

  9:07pm
G:

I just know everyone's gonna behave tonight, and not harsh the mellow...
  9:07pm
James in ATL:

Yes! Pseu is back.
  9:08pm
nixxon:

Aaah, been looking forward to this show all week.
  9:10pm
G.R.:

TGIF, y'all. :)
  9:11pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

For various reasons, I haven't caught this show in a while. I am listening tonight, I tell you what.
  9:12pm
Destroit:

right, G. Hello Pseu, and everyone. It's been a while since I've gotten to absorb the whole show. Looking forward to it.
  9:12pm
G.R.:

That was a lovely opener! (R.I.P. Mr. Welch. :( )
  9:15pm
Destroit:

X 2 G.R.
  9:15pm
PB:

Dusty's version of Mockingbird was great. I can't remember who did the original. G will know. G?
  9:20pm
Chop Scott:

Yes--RIP Bob Welch.
  9:20pm
G:

Sorry, we had something burning here :-) This original original?? Maybe...???

Let's take a moment to thank the Lord Jesus H. Christ that we all have internet and can use wikipedia ourselves.
  9:22pm
G.R.:

According to Wikipedia, Inez and Charlie Foxx originally did it in 1963 (Dusty's version came out the next year).
  9:24pm
john:

If the long-overdue Brewer and Shipley revival starts here, count me in.
  9:25pm
PB:

Thanks G and Tom. Also used by Bo Diddley, just realized when I read the Wiki entry. Speaking of Bo Diddley, I take it he was one of Mo Tucker's favorite artists. A few covers and other references to Bo on Mo's recently released career retrospective (which is, by the way, a very, very interesting recording).
  9:25pm
Tom - In Gravesend Brooklyn:

I thank the lord JC for WFMU too.. Spaz belted out a Shirley song not heard in years... no such good commercial oldies station anymore to reflect on either ...
  9:26pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

One toke over the line sweet jesus h. christ.
  9:26pm
EastVanHalen:

Hooooooooooook! Hello lovely people, and welcome back, Pseu!
  9:30pm
Mike East:

@PB - I've been thinking of picking that up. I have one of her albums and there's atleast one song with a Bo Diddley beat.
  9:33pm
Dr Rock:

LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!
  9:33pm
PB:

It's great. Contributors include Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo, Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Jad Fair, etc. etc. Some oddities but a lot of very cool stuff too.
  9:34pm
James in ATL:

That CVS sounded like the Who - in a good way
  9:38pm
nixxon:

What's the name of the Mo retrospective? Not easy to find on the tubes without more details...
  9:40pm
Mike East:

It's "I Feel So Far Away" - search on WFMU - there are a bunch of archives where DJ's have played tracks off of it, nixxon
  9:41pm
PB:

I Feel So Far Away, issued by Sundazed. Double CD.
  9:41pm
nixxon:

Thanks!
  9:42pm
Mike East:

..."I Feel So Far Away: Anthology 1974-1998"
  9:48pm
PB:

There sure has been a big hulabaloo about the reissue of Ram. I'm going to be diplomatic and not say another word.
  9:49pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Summer. Great song. The pop ees gut.
  9:51pm
EastVanHalen:

Yup. Sweet melody, weird guitar, num.
  9:51pm
Destroit:

Summer, that was pleasant. California, not so much.
  9:54pm
Destroit:

Got a weird thing for best coast,
  9:55pm
nixxon:

That was sticky bliss...
  9:55pm
PB:

Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast sure does sound a lot like Dee Dee from the Dum Dum Girls, doesn't she. I really like both bands, just saying.
  9:56pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

I was thinking Anna Waronker.
  9:57pm
Destroit:

Totally agree PB, limited knowledge of both, but I gravitate toward what they are doing.
  10:03pm
Newaveclub:

Redwood!
  10:14pm
Destroit:

Waronker reference noted, pretenders are always appreciated.
  10:15pm
G.R.:

Love this Young the Giant song... :)
  10:17pm
nixxon:

Agreed - the hook is strong in this song (o-whoa)
  10:21pm
Websie:

fab show tonight, pseu!
  10:22pm
Destroit:

Gut feeling says that I would love to have a stupid 2:00am BBQ with G.R. & nixxon.
  10:24pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

The key change at the beginning of Down Escalator is a pretty big payoff. Kudos.
  10:25pm
Chop Scott:

Chameleons played a solid set at Primavera, a good blast from the past.
  10:28pm
Dave in So Dak:

Damn. This show is so great. Thanks, Pseu. And kudos. It's making my Friday night so much more lively.
  10:29pm
Destroit:

Enjoying the music Pseu. Haha, Man U fans + creepy forum people=a, ugh evening.
  10:32pm
Dave in So Dak:

My Man-U / Nike polo shirt has endured much abuse. I will say one thing - even Manchester, Chelsea, Swindon, Liverpool fans are rabid, even when they're 7000 miles away.
  10:32pm
Destroit:

Hello Dave.
  10:34pm
Dave in So Dak:

Cheers, Destroit and all.
  10:45pm
Destroit:

Supernatural force. Great song by sebedoh. Might be a good fit.
  10:47pm
Dave in So Dak:

I miss Kirsty McColl. Steve Lillywhite was never the same after the tragedy. Need to hear. Need to hear.
  10:47pm
G.R.:

"Missing Miss MacColl" -- a lovely ode to Kirsty.
  10:48pm
Dave in So Dak:

Absolutely.
  10:49pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

As if we needed a reason to dislike boaters.
  10:53pm
Dave in So Dak:

Gem - "Good to See You" - a track with monster hooks I haven't heard in years, and I can't find it anywhere... Love the Harrison...
  10:54pm
PB:

These demos are cool but I prefer the Phil Spector "wall of sound" version. Great song.
  10:54pm
G.R.:

Classic GH tune. :)
  10:58pm
nixxon:

This is just sublime... thanks Pseu!
  10:58pm
G.R.:

Aw, I love me some REM!
  10:59pm
Chris in Newton:

Great show Pseu. Thank you.
  11:00pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Success kills the creative urge.
  11:01pm
Dave in So Dak:

YES!!!
  11:09pm
Dave in So Dak:

Someone...Yeltsin sounds kind of like New Amsterdams. Love it. Thanks, Pseu. Best show ever.
  11:15pm
Dave in So Dak:

Barkevious Shabazz - Perhaps success kills creativity in many cases - I agree, I've seen it. But failure, after years and years of struggle, can also pretty much kill one's songwriting muscle. Trust me. Artists are weird like that.
  11:20pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Dave ISD-Point taken, Scott Miller being the ultimate example of jettisoning the ignored.
  11:23pm
Usurper:

We're all lazy at heart, creative or not... Cavemen would be so disappointed if they knew what happened...
  11:24pm
John:

Caught the show driving tonight. An absolutely amazing playlist. Bravo!
  11:31pm
Dave in So Dak:

Usurper - See your point. Wonder what humanity would be like today if we had the courage like our ancient ancenstors to fend off life-threatening things like predators. Today it's fending off old girlfriends, creditors, telemarketers... We're whimps.
  11:33pm
David:

Really good show tonight. Great picks.
Got got to bed now ---

  11:35pm
Dave in So Dak:

  11:36pm
slugluv1313:

  11:36pm
david small d:

  11:38pm

  11:51pm
