Sorry, I got sucked into a toast void. Hi James und Dervish!

I only recently learned that Senor Coconut is a German dude. Duh! You'd think with his Kraftwerk fetish, I would've figured it out. I was fooled by his authentic sounding Latin American nom de plum.
Why, he looks as Latin as Dieter Meier!
Avatar 1:30pm
DDDJJJ666:

Krauts sometimes rock a surprisingly Latin look. Prolly cuz they hid in South America for so long.

I will not become older? Do I have that right? This show is really tugging at my school German from the 70s ...
Avatar 1:32pm

Let's Dorian Grey this shit!
  1:32pm

I love how all of Heino's records have that South America, Mexico vibe. It's like he's coming from The Man in the High Castle/alternate reality where Germany's already annexed all of the continent.
Avatar 1:34pm
DDDJJJ666:

I think it was a German fetish.I blame Tommy Motollo. I have a Heino record that has a pop-up in the middle, which is my fetish.

Um, this song ROCKS!
Avatar 1:37pm
DDDJJJ666:

This makes me feel like Ian Curtis staring at a flashing red light.
  1:40pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Any track with a German girl talking in the background is alright by me. She could be describing how to use a corkscrew, for all I'd know. In my head, she's Ulrike Meinhof, who shot a red flag right into my heart.
Avatar 1:42pm
DDDJJJ666:

Totes. My list goes like this: Red heads, German chicks reading assembly instructions, all others.
Avatar 1:42pm
DDDJJJ666:

Most of this stuff is still un-reissued. Unfortunately, when it is, it will probably be put out in beautiful, space-wasting, hard-to-use Vinyl On Demand box sets with corners ruined in shipping.
  1:45pm
Ricardo Montalban:

And over-priced to the point it makes a valiant argument for bit torrent and MP3 compression

Avatar 2:32pm
DDDJJJ666:

They had an actual FM band going, but then a thing happened and now it's all streaming.
  2:33pm

I remember the FM thing. For some reason, I had a vision of them squatting in the West Hills in camouflage with a little transmitter. This is not the case, nein?

The FCC removed it?

Avatar 2:41pm

It's very small. You need a metal detector to find it.
  2:43pm
Ike:

Funny how the FCC will seize transmitters in other places, but not in the NYC/NJ area, and certainly not when it's an unlicensed reggae station in Paterson interfering with WFMU. Gee, is the FCC afraid to go into Paterson but not Portland? Nah, COULDN'T BE!
  2:45pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Not sure why that is. Portland used to have a fairly robust pirate radio thing going on. Still may, but I live far enough from the environs of that fair city that I wouldn't be able to tune any in.
Avatar 2:46pm
DDDJJJ666:

I think it was low priority for the FCC, but my understanding is that one of the DJ's was on another radio show and managed to stupidly reveal the location of the transmitter, as in exactly, so the boyz rolled up and grabbed that shit.
Avatar 2:47pm
DDDJJJ666:

Does the FCC have a basement full of confiscated transmitters? I want to transmit from there.
