R I S K Y:

Go Rich!
  12:36am
Destroit:

Sacks on the Beach was great!
  12:38am
Destroit:

The jazz stuff is a great soundtrack to hoops craziness. Meltdown Kansas.
  12:53am
Deepak:

Morning Rich, really like this one by Bruno.
  12:54am
pete:

Great stuff Rich!
  12:57am
Destroit:

Not so meltdown Kansas. They held it together with glue and tinsel. I'll second the Bruno comment from Deepak, thumbs up!

Does anyone have any examples of poetry in modern music? Something in the past few years preferably.
  1:03am
PiLA:

the millennium track sounded like it was going into something else ... at the end
  1:07am
PiLA:

bron yr aur stomp, perhaps
  1:13am
Destroit:

Nope Kevlar, no examples. I will say that I'll be seeing The Wedding Present on Monday, no idea what their new album is like. Circa 1989ish, song writing gold from David Gedge. Maybe not poetry, but damn good songs.
  1:21am
Deepak:

poetry like as in folk music or like in poetry recitation? Maybe not what you're looking for but this one comes to my mind

Thanks for Air rich!

Thanks guys. I was thinking about it after discussing it with a friend. I think there was a lot of emphasis on poetic lyrics in the mid to late '60s that isn't so prevalent nowadays. It seems like Bob Dylan really influenced that, and it was important in all forms of music, from popular to underground. Talking to some people today, they seem to believe that lyrics are secondary and not completely necessary anymore. My friend is going to see The Wedding Present too, so that is extra motivation to check them out. And I will check that video out, thanks Deepak.
  1:31am
Destroit:

Kevlar, check out jonothan Donohue. His band is Mercury Rev (my favorite band ever). Great song writer. Deserters songs (the album) is a good starting point.
  1:34am
Deepak:

this one is from some South Indian movie .
  1:35am
Deepak:

btw 'Maina' is a female parrot.
  1:35am
http://www.last.fm/user/johnnykevlar:

Oh yeah man. I love mercury rev, I know the bassist son. His son's band kind of sucks and have terrible lyrics unfortunately, lol
  1:37am
http://www.last.fm/user/johnnykevlar:

Can I run my hands through your carwash hair?
  1:40am
Destroit:

That's awesome Kevlar. I just keep tabs on what Jon and grasshopper are up to. And you can work my carwash hair anytime you want. Oh, and long lost recluse David Baker is back making music. Take that into the snorry mouth.
  1:43am
Deepak:

damn right Francis Bebey haha
  1:47am
Destroit:

Kinda digging Francis too Deepak. I wish I was on a beach.
  1:54am
Destroit:

Specifically, David Baker's new band called Variety Lights, releasing an album this June. God can only wonder that guy has brewed over the past 15+ years. My best guess is that it's quite good.
  1:55am
http://www.last.fm/user/johnnykevlar:

Hey Destroit, here is the son of Dave Fridmann's band, I wouldn't recommend it at all. But if you were curious you can check it out. It's just some kids having fun.

Yeah, I couldn't watch it for longer than twenty seconds. I don't know why I linked it.
  1:57am
Destroit:

Haha, Fridmann is a world class producer. Unfortunately, ahhh, kids.
  2:24am
Deepak:
