Listener comments!

  9:23pm
12539:

Happily present.
  9:24pm
Irwin:

Pseu, do you mind if I re-air your sets but LEAVE OUT THE DAVID GUETTA?
  9:24pm
Tom ( In Gravesend ):

ahhh the weekend and the Hook finally !!!... good evening Pseu and one and all !!!
  9:25pm
pseu:

everything's better with Usher.
  9:27pm
Irwin:

Your most egregious content error — ever.
  9:27pm
Elwyn:

Ha ha! I've got to agree with Irwin. It's a good song but I hear it every time I go to the gym on the crappy mainstream Channel V.

It was GREAT to hear Katrina & The Waves again. I fondly remember my childhood library had audio cassettes in the 80s and I loved that album.
Coincidentally, I first heard Pretenders via the mediocre "Get Close" from the same library and finally bought it on CD yesterday (as part of a 5 pack of albums with card covers).
  9:31pm
pseu:

THAT opinion, Irwin is why you could never curate this show. You asked for it.
  9:32pm
pseu:

some of our most legendary songwriters wrote "maudlin" content.
  9:35pm
Irwin:

I hereby declare my Weds. afternoon program a Guetta-Free Zone 4ever!
  9:36pm
glenn:

if you're talking about ben drinken, his schtick gets old very fast.
  9:37pm
john:

I'm pretty sure I've never in my life heard a show where I loved every single record played on it. I'm reasonably sure, however, that if I insisted on that, I'd 1) never hear any music and 2) be a douche.
  9:40pm
eastvanhalen:

I was a cheerleader in high school, but I wasn't popular at all, which means I love maudlin pop beyond reason. Now I'm having a massive Eric Carmen craving.
  9:40pm
glenn:

the ten commandments can be boiled down to one : don't be a douche.
  9:41pm
Elwyn:

I went to an all boy's school. It had no cheerleaders and I became f**ked up for life. BUT I didn't have to listen to pop in high school.

Having said that, I'd listen to anything except nu-metal, Christian rock, Coldplay, John Mayer and Paramore to spend time with a cheerleader.
  9:41pm
glenn:

were you a goth cheerleader?
  9:45pm
eastvanhalen:

I don't think they existed when I was in high school.
  9:45pm
Elwyn:

Did you ever dress as a zombie cheerleader?
  9:46pm
glenn:

i don't even think my high school had cheer leaders, but it's been a very long time. cheerleading isn't a very big deal here in canada.
  9:46pm
pseu:

Christian Rock is the Holy Grail of current Pop Content right now.
I'm just looking for a more secular song for the show.
Big Star was a Christian Pop band by my calculation.
  9:47pm
PB:

@glenn, I think you mentioned before that you live in toronto. what high school did you go to?
  9:49pm
glenn:

actually, i went to high school in milton. milton district high.
  9:49pm
Chop Scott:

Pseu!
I'm not the kind to participate in Facebook, but I am a loyal and true listener! Again, thanks--appreciate you...There's my like.
  9:51pm
pseu:

  9:54pm
pseu:

we have a super-cutie on the board!!!
  9:54pm
Crochet Wonderwoman:

I know what I do with my hook. What do you do with yours?
  9:56pm
glenn:

what pseu said.
  9:57pm
eastvanhalen:

Ha! Aw, shucks, thanks. Ah, to be 16 again (never, thank god, never).
  9:58pm
glenn:

of course, you've outed yourself. stephanie.
  10:00pm
Websie:

I saw Ash play when that rekkid came out.
  10:01pm
eastvanhalen:

Yeah, my grasp of security culture has always been kind of weak. Meanwhile, I find myself liking this tune.
  10:02pm
pseu:

@Websie -- I HATE U. (sob)...why won't they tour the USA?
  10:04pm
glenn:

drug convictions? links to al qaeda?
  10:05pm
Websie:

Pseu, I lost track of them after they became legal.
  10:08pm
pseu:

they've been kept very much alive thru this show...I'm monitering them in the usual virtual outlets -- currently touring for the slobbering brit unemployed with the US fans begging them to come here.
  10:11pm
glenn:

ash AND cheerleaders. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW8mEMqiNhc
  10:17pm
12539:

Um, is that Martin Newell song BEFORE the Hurricane? (you have me looking for it now.)
  10:17pm
eastvanhalen:

That's your pop video heaven, right there.
  10:19pm
Websie:

let's blackmail Ash to show up at ATP 2012
  10:19pm
pseu:

BEFORE, yes.
  10:20pm
12539:

Thanks.
  10:23pm
eastvanhalen:

This Sheryl Crow song is insanely pretty. Off to ask google about it.
  10:26pm
glenn:

more lindsay buckingham tonight?
  10:36pm
glenn:

trying to avoid love in a pop song is like trying to avoid losing for the chicago cubs.
  10:45pm
glenn:

see, that's the kind of thing that would ensure a second date for me. she's clumsy AND she swears like a sailor? fuckin' a.
  10:55pm
eastvanhalen:

Ha, I have a 2001 A Space Odyssey klutz story, too, but it involves a $40 glass of wine, a lot of broken glass, and a horrified restaurant.
  11:00pm
glenn:

40$ glass of wine? yipes.
  11:01pm
m l e:

where's devo ?
  11:02pm
eastvanhalen:

A friend's elaborate birthday dinner at a fancy San Francisco restaurant. I'd come directly from a flight from Vancouver and was a touch frazzled. Hilarity ensued.
  11:03pm
glenn:

grow-opcouver will do that to you.
  11:06pm
eastvanhalen:

To lots of people, but not to me. I'm that oddity: a Vancouverite who doesn't like weed. It's pretty much more acceptable than cigarettes here. Weird city.
  11:08pm
glenn:

have you been to vij's? apparently it's the best indian food known to man.
  11:12pm
Retard_Riot:

YES!! lindsey!!!!! !!! !!!!!
  11:13pm
eastvanhalen:

I've been to the more casual place that he runs next door, and it was fabulous. (And there's your Buckingham. Thanks, Pseu!)
  11:14pm
Chris in Philly:

Pseu, wow, Lindsey obsession....but always sounds great. "IF" i would every get married..."IF"...this would be blared at reception. love it!
  11:17pm
glenn:

thanks pseu.
  11:20pm
glenn:

did you ever see cub play, evh? i harbour a strange affection for my chinchilla. ummmm, that's a song. pervs.
  11:23pm
eastvanhalen:

Yeah, they used to play a fair bit, though honestly they weren't my favourite band.
  11:23pm
john:

Oh great, guess who's crying already...
  11:24pm
pseu:

BEX!
  11:25pm
bex:

snuffle
  11:28pm
pseu:

please. I will not be playing your request. Get over it.
  11:30pm
pseu:

Uh....NO I'll not be playing your annoying request.
  11:31pm
pseu:

I'll bet you own all of their albums.
  11:32pm
Manolo:

Oh man !!! this is my favorite song of classic Radiohead
  11:32pm
pseu:

BEX------------Here's a POWER WEEPIE
  11:33pm
pseu:

but john hates it, sooooo.....
  11:33pm
bex:

waaaaaaaaaah
  11:34pm
eastvanhalen:

I need unrequited love so this song can hurt more.
  11:34pm
Manolo:

i'm singing out loud already
  11:35pm
pseu:

oh, teknologie....
  11:36pm
john:

My issue is the band, in reality and concept, not the song, which was pretty. And speaking of bands, I once had a friend who had the complete works of the Wedding Present, which he talked about more or less incessantly, when he wasn't hyping the Blue Aeroplanes. He once told me he didn't like a certain record, which fades into the mists of memory, because it "wasn't alternative enough." Message ends.
  11:44pm
eastvanhalen:

I really love the way the feel of the playlist has changed with the season, Pseu.
  11:46pm
12539:

I was just going to say, I'm glad to have the show lasting into Winter, but can you make the weather a little warmer too?
  11:47pm
pseu:

thanks you guys. It's gonna be a long hard one. Winter I mean.
  11:47pm
Destroit:

Agree. Great show. Sad that you think my requests suck.
  11:48pm
pseu:

No, it's your insistence about it. And cursing out another listener. You're being a douche.
  11:48pm
James in ATL:

Great show! Now I will spend the week replaying it and searching for records by several of the artists on the show. Thanks Pseu - Have a great week.
  11:52pm
pseu:

thanks, James.
  11:53pm
G:

I was touring out of town relatives around Manhattan till just now. What a saint I am.

I detect signs of mucho deletions here, w00t! will catch up on the archived music subsequently. the music is more imporant than the comments, after all.
  11:59pm
Destroit:

My bad, I thought respectable radio stations take requests,
  11:59pm
DJ School:

They take requests. They don't take crap.
  11:59pm
bex:

sob (with happiness)
  12:01am
eastvanhalen:

Oh, that's a motto! "WFMU: We Take Requests. We Don't Take Crap." Wanna bumper sticker...
  12:01am
diggity:

Did someone say fire hydrant?
  12:02am
DJ School:

They take them and file them in the circular file
  12:02am
eastvanhalen:

WFMU: We Take Requests Under Advisement. And We Don't Take Crap. Better?
  12:03am
ADM:

Sinner's Crossroads takes requests.
You dissing Kevin Nutt Pseu?
  12:03am
eastvanhalen:

"We Take Polite Pleas For Lindsey Buckingham"?
  12:03am
Ike:

When I first started listening in the mid-90s, I think NOBODY accepted requests on FMU, *EVER*. (Well, probably.) I'm quite surprised now when occasionally certain DJs will fulfill playlist-comment-submitted requests.
  12:05am
eastvanhalen:

"WFMU: Stop Begging -- It's Unseemly."
  12:06am
12539:

There's a difference between a suggestion and an order.
  12:08am
Destroit:

I'm a hick. we call in, we talk to the curators of the show.... It's interactive.
  12:10am
G:

I've never made a request here, unless the host requested listener suggestions on the comments board. It's freeform. Why do I want to tell the host what to do? Commenting suffices as input. Insistent requests are annoying to other listeners.
  12:13am
Destroit:

Hmm, you might be right g.
  12:13am
ADM:

What a bunch of sycophants.
  12:13am
G:

That's what they all say. :-)
  12:14am
ADM:

Where's my "Sweet Home Alabama?"
  11:17pm
G:

Finally catching up on this show. Seems as if when Pseu fell, it sounded a lot like a mic break. :-)
