Listener comments!

  12:09pm
Cecile:

Everything OK there, Duane? A couple of bigtime heartbreak songs there...
  12:12pm
duane:

Hey Cecille..all's good :) HA!
  12:13pm
Cecile:

Oh, good. Love you played Johnny Nash, so underrated.
  12:17pm
still b/p:

I went back and bought the Sylvester vinyl at Goodwill. Don't Stop/Hard Up 12". Ehh. Sounds very much like its early 80s day. Not familiar with discography, but expect earlier work would be better, more fun.
  12:18pm
jill:

greetings all! great show...
  12:18pm
Cecile:

Yeah. Although "Do You Wanna Funk" is from that era, and a killer track.
  12:18pm
duane:

still b/P: Oh cool. Glad you took a chance. You wanna check for any of Syl's Fantasy Recods output. That's the solid stuff!
Jill: Thanks:)
  12:19pm
Cecile:

I just hated this song the first time around.in its original version. This version is absolutely charming.
  12:25pm
vanessa:

hey, homey...happy wednesday!
  12:26pm
duane:

Hey Vanessa:)
  12:35pm
Marmalade Kitty:

legend that is blue monday!
  12:35pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Hola!
  12:45pm
ROOFLESS:

THIS VERSION OF TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT IS FLIPPIN MA WIG
  12:45pm
Marmalade Kitty:

  12:46pm
duane:

Thank you M.K. & Roofless:)
  12:47pm
duane:

My shameless plug to nickel and dime me to help me reach my goal has now been made friends:)
  12:51pm
ROOFLESS:

what's the story on cat's on nip? tried to hunt down a recording of that neil cover!
  12:51pm
duane:

Roofless: Try searching on Soundcloud. It's brand new!
  12:56pm
Cecile:

OH. One of the best things about Patrik Ian Polk's movie Punks was the reoccuring presence of a Sister Sledge drag tribute act. Hysterical.
  12:59pm
duane:

Cecille: Oh that's a great one!
  1:01pm
#K:

Duane, I am smitten
  1:02pm
Aharon:

Good show. Goes well w/coffee.
  1:02pm
still b/p:

But we'll stand by you, man.
  1:02pm
Cecile:

"I'm Cathy Sledge! I'm the star!"
  1:04pm
duane:

Cecile: Do you remember the terrible SIster Sledge 80's hit "Frankie?
"? IT's one of the biggest Karoke hits in the UK..makes me wanna stab eyeballs!
  1:06pm
Cecile:

No, I don't know that one. Sounds gruesome.
  1:07pm
duane:

Cecile: On your off time, youtube the video..it's pretty funny!
  1:08pm
still b/p:

I just now made it to 1:13 of the Official Exclusive Video for Frankie. No mo'.
  1:08pm
Cecile:

there are a lot of gruesome UK hits that bely the myth of superior British taste in music.
  1:12pm
Dr. Evil:

I like this 'Star "LAZER"'.
  1:12pm
Cecile:

wow, that was awful.
  1:13pm
vanessa:

love all the psychemajik tracks you've played over the last few weeks...must get my hands on them.
  1:14pm
still b/p:

But, oh-whoa, the visual effects are double-DAZZZZZZLING!
  1:15pm
duane:

Yeah the SIster Sledge video...money was obviously no object
  1:17pm
Cecile:

It probably wasn't! Remember, it was 1979!
  1:18pm
Cecile:

remember "Rock WIth You" was cutting edge visuals...
  1:22pm
abby in france:

duane you are the best.
  1:23pm
duane:

thank you abby!
  1:26pm
slugluv1313:

absolutely loving your show, Duane!!!!!! THNAK YOU!!!!!!!
  1:27pm
Cecile:

Marcus Samuelsson is from Sweden!
  1:28pm
still b/p:

Even with just the still pictures coming to life bit, though, a little more creative thinking & design couldn't hoit. In the early video years, I remember thinking clumsy work was graded/credited on a strange curve, until the tech and budgets really started expanding and competing.
  1:30pm
Caryn:

Being Scandinavian myself, all I can say is that as long as people no longer ask me if we have electricity and cutlery (or whether we live in igloos while dodging the polar bears roaming the streets), I'm fine.
  1:32pm
Cecile:

sbp, I've seen videos with almost no money look better than that one. I still love Van Halen's Jump and that thing was shot for $400. Or Brass in Pocket by the Pretenders - I think their whole budget was a waitress uniform for Chrissie Hynde.
  1:38pm
still b/p:

'Zactly. A director or recipe person with a good eye, a nice touch and good energy gauge is obviously the best asset. Big productions can be amazing and satisfying, but simple sometimes wins easily.
  1:46pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Less is more? But too many people fall into the trap of thinking that: if less is more, then imagine how much more, more would be!
  1:47pm
Ike:

That DH remix by Mogwai blew my brains out. In a good way.
  1:49pm
Cecile:

AAP, to do overkill right, you have to have a sensiblilty almost as good as a minimalist, I think.
  1:51pm
Ike:

Loving and hating NYC simultaneously -- I get it. Oh yeah.
  1:56pm
Antoine de St. Exupery:

Perfection is reached not when there's nothing left to add, but when there's nothing left to remove.
  1:57pm
Cecile:

Kissey, have you thought of incorporating any Scandinavian elements into your music either in the form of language, or playing some of the really gnarly stringed instruments they have over there?
  1:57pm
Cecile:

Some things need less removing than others, Tony.
  2:01pm
w i l d n e IL:

New York sucks...too many damn people....I think I'll move to Antartica....
  2:02pm
Fear:

New York's alright if you like saxophones.
  2:02pm
Cecile:

YES
  2:04pm
w i l d n e IL:

Buffalo sucks.
  2:06pm
Stevel:

For the record, I do NOT want to touch Mr. Glitter
  2:07pm
Kissey:

Stevel: That's hilarious!
  2:07pm
Cecile:

Roy Wood era ELO!
  2:07pm
Caryn:

@Stevel: yeah, seriously, who would want to?
  2:08pm
Cecile:

man, pedos ruin everything.
  2:08pm
w i l d n e IL:

Cool! Kinda strong beatleish strings there! Cool! Buffalo isn't so bad now!
  2:08pm
Caryn:

And on the record, my unwillingness to touch Mr. Glitter predates the paedophilia revelations.
  2:09pm
Cecile:

Yeah, what with the bad toupee and the truss and all.
  2:09pm
w i l d n e IL:

Maybe I'll take a trip to avenue B and score some grass and hang out in Tompkins Square park! nah...but maybe NYC is ok too....the arts! The museums!
  2:10pm
Caryn:

Me and my brother always have to explain to our friends why we like ELO. I guess it's not "cool", but who gives a rat's patootie.
  2:11pm
w i l d n e IL:

I think its cool you can take classic rock that is so frickin old its COOL again! The Kinks would be ripe for that kind of action....the Animals....Arthur Brown....
  2:11pm
w i l d n e IL:

Cool is not giving a poop.
  2:11pm
Cecile:

I seriously love Out of the Blue.
  2:12pm
Cecile:

Nice set. I feel like I'm back in OZ in '76.
  2:12pm
w i l d n e IL:

The Kinks Hollywood Blvd....so overdone, so good...
  2:12pm
Cecile:

don't lean on me man cause you can't afford the ticket...
  2:13pm
Caryn:

Now, Bowie I wouldn't mind touching. Or his wife.
  2:13pm
Kissey:

Thanx guys..this is too much fun!!
  2:13pm
Cecile:

Iman is so, WOW.
  2:14pm
Cecile:

  2:15pm
w i l d n e IL:

Iman is as hot as the f'in sun!
  2:16pm
Cecile:

You know it. And seems such a lovely person.
  2:16pm
Caryn:

How about Roxy Music's "Ladytron"? Or some Eno?
  2:17pm
Cecile:

oooooh, yeah Caryn.
Or any Roxy, really.
  2:23pm
Uriah Heep:

We'll be out back if you need us.
  2:23pm
Cecile:

Alison Goldfraap, the Noosha Fox of our era.
  2:24pm
Cecile:

Heep, try back around 6:00 pm tomorrow.
  2:24pm
Duane:

Cecile: Noosha is the ish!
  2:25pm
w i l d n e IL:

Cool show! I would NEVER listen to Goldfrapp after that girl in Hard Candy said "Goldfrapp sucks!"...now I WILL listen! What a crazy song!
  2:28pm
Chris:

Really enjoying this set! Thanks for the selections.
  2:28pm
Caryn:

Hmm, I wonder if Duane will make it a trio of breathy high female voices by following this with some Blondie...
  2:29pm
Stevel:

Great set. Please keep it up until I finish my work. It IS about me after all.
  2:31pm
vanessa:

ooooooohhhhhhhh
  2:31pm
Caryn:

Cecile: wouldn't mind Quo, but would prefer "Pictures of Matchstick Men" -era Quo over 70s/80s Quo.
  2:32pm
Stig Larsson:

what's wrong with Slade? Why won't anyone play them anymore?????
  2:32pm
Cecile:

Nothing wrong with Slade!
  2:33pm
Cecile:

LOLOLOLOL! awesome.
  2:33pm
w i l d n e IL:

Wow, Kate Bush sure sounds like Noosha.
  2:33pm
Caryn:

Damn straight, Slade would be very welcome!
  2:34pm
Caryn:

Have a live set of hers on video... crazy.
  2:34pm
Bjorn Ulfsson:

Slade would be nice Stig...but what about The Sweet or Mudd???
  2:35pm
Cecile:

the sweet are always the right answer
  2:35pm
Caryn:

Should I start campaigning for Styx or something?
  2:36pm
w i l d n e IL:

  2:38pm
slugluv1313:

MISTER ROBOTO!!!!!! c'mon, Duane, I DARE YA!!!!!!!
  2:39pm
Caryn:

The thing is, I was so anti-Styx for years, until I realised bit by bit that about half a dozen songs I'd loved since childhood were by Styx. Guess I'll have to actually buy a record of theirs one of these days.
  2:39pm
