A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Looking forward to meeting Miss Kalman. When my (now college age) daughter was little, one of our family's favorite read-aloud books was "Hey Willy, See the Pyramids". If you're not familiar with it, I suggest you remedy that.

George Washington's rules of civilty and decent behavior in company and conversation.
Rule 1. Every action done in company ought to be with some sign of respect to those that are present.

Parq:

I've loved most of Miss Kalman books and liked the rest, both the for-children catalog and the NY Times stuff, but "Willie" is her classic, her "One Fish Two Fish", a perfect blend of nonsense and style.
  9:22am
dc pat fc:

Rule 537. Take not out your teeth and set them on the table while chugging the grog.
  9:23am

hi trouble and listeners, lovely spring day here in the uk. and if i'm not mistaken, that rubber band looks suspiciously like the property of royal mail ltd!... before i became an employee of her majesties postal service, bundles of mail were quaintly tied up with royal mail string. the rubber band is perhaps the most welcome of the company's many new 'modernising' practices. lovely tunes as use' btw.
  9:55am

the best sources for that info will be either now or eye magazines. i can answer pretty much any specific question you've got, as long as it's not too demographically skewed, by which i mean don't ask me where the cool kids hang out, 'cause i just don't know anymore.
  11:50am
postmanpaul (":
