Do we know how Hitler tied his shoes?
  9:48am
Lysergic Poutine:

  9:55am
PMD:

Am I a sicko just because I liked the tying shoes joke?
  9:55am
Lizardner Dave:

When are we going to hear some stories about the good Nazis, like Tom Cruise in that movie?
  9:56am
fishmonkeystew:

Hmmm, this sounds like a bit more than was expected, no?
  9:56am
annie:

PMD, i was rotflmao!!!
  9:56am

Uh - Mendelssohn was born, raised, and died Protestant. His father was jewish but converted. The Nazis classified things racially, but they don't always set the best example for us to follow.
  9:57am

The sad thing is that Little Nazis joke is the only one I know. I learned it at the age of 6.
  9:57am

  10:03am
dei x:

I look forward to the body of work that will come from the Somali and Bosnian refugees, not to mention the other survivors of broad cultural traumas. Too bad great art can only change a few.
  10:05am
Cecile:

I'm going to say it again.
J-date
  10:06am
PMD:

Grandma, though the entire Nachum crowd is listening and is your likely source for a date, I think you scared them off with the April Fool's joke. Maybe if you prove you can cook kosher??
  10:07am
PMD:

annie, glad I could oblige.
  10:07am
still b/p:

Maybe the best date-appropriate response would've been a seamless unspoken conspiracy among all commenters: no recognition whatsoever of any difference in the show. "Man, my buttered waffle rocked this morning. And, hey, great set, Ken. Stooges, please."
  10:08am
Vernon:

Did I fall for an April Fool's Joke, or is the Do or DIY show not happening today?

Someone about 100 comments back asked about the comments record. Wasn't it that AIG comments show in Ken's old time slot (LOL) a couple of weeks back? If memory serves, Ken posted the total as 486 at the end. That's 162/hour, close to 3/minute. The last hour was the killer, though, with all the AIG jokes. If you want a record, accelerate insanely. :-P

  10:42am
Cecile:

stop showing off, john. ;D
  10:43am

  10:44am

  10:45am
dc pät:

...his parents finally sent him to to a tutor at a Catholic school and he improved greatly. His parents asked him what happened. He said "well I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign above the door and I knew they meant business."
  10:45am
G:

annie, my understanding is that after a number of recent incidents one or more dj's mentioned that their comments boards were being ruined by troll stuff, and TS may or may not be posting any more. Haven't spotted him in comments since the last bad incident Sunday evening, when two shows in a row turned off the comments function.
  10:45am
annie:

  10:46am

Jojo, you're right, this is EXACTLY like the Best Show.
  10:50am
annie:

  10:50am
Carmichael:

I give up trying to read the comments list. Someone sped up the refresh rate, and it keeps moving on me.

Good morning, everyone. I'm normally not good with the April Fool's shenanigans, so just kiss my fat ass, generally speaking.
  10:50am
Cecile:

hey, being remembered as a DJ is a fine legacy.
  10:51am
Cecile:

hey, carm, hang around
  10:51am
Carmichael:

This is more like Manzarek than Sharpling.
  10:51am
G:

Scharpling reference reminds me:

Proposed title: "The Worst Show on WFMU"

Could reuse Tom's theme music with redubbed lyrics
  10:51am
Cynnkitty:

Grandma Phyllis is a great lady. And that is no joke. She could probably teach us all a thing or two.

  10:53am

i think she chose jewish so she could spit at everyone everytime she tawks.

What about a matchmaker?

I'm totally serious here.

i'm gonna hook her up with that italian stud with the turtle neck..
  10:55am

  10:55am

"You ain't got no sex appeal" just made me do that thing where you spit out a drink in disbelief.

  10:56am
stingy d:

if this dame can grill cheese i'll take her out with some of my fuggin friends any day.
  10:58am
Cecile:

I don't know. There are still good matchmakers out there. I watch the reality TV. I totally know about this.

annie, go for it!

John, why is it that when I'm serious, I get the most yuks?
  10:58am
Cecile:

I washed a lot of cloth diapers. I had baby sisters.

Greeting everybody! How is Grandma Phyllis doing? I am reading but not listening. I do agree that the Holocaust was BAD. Comment record is 430.

John from Oslo:

For You Cecile:

Clink, clink, another drink
Plenty in the cellar when it's gone.
Drink, drink, the glasses clink
Making tinkly music till the dawn is breaking.
Clang, clang, who cares a dang?
What's the difference when you're on a spree?
Over the teeth, behind the gums,
Look out stomach here she comes
Hi! Have another drink on me.
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.
Trinkle, trinkle, trinkle, trinkle.
Slice of cheese and bite of pickle
Doesn't even cost a nickel
Now to wash it down.
Clink, clink, no more to drink
I had a cellar full, but now it's gone.
Drink, drink, the glasses clink
Like the anvil chorus and my head is splitting,
Uh, brinking, uh, busting. Oh brother!
Oh, ow, what'll I do now
Pink elephants running after me.
Oh, that stuff is smooth as silk
From now on I'll stick to milk.
Nothing else to drink for me.
  11:12am
Pearlÿ Sweets:

But not for me, John? NOT FOR ME?! Cecile gets all of the love.
  11:12am

Erik:

I really hope this gets archived. I got back from picking up my son after school (I live in Berlin) and I refreshed the WFMU home page and I saw Grandma Phyllis' First Program. I was tempted to tune in, but it was already 2:15 into the show and I wanted to listen to it from the beginning. "I'll catch it in the archive." While I was cleaning up after supper, I thought about the show that I was missing. "That's what freeform is about!" I had glanced at the comments and had seen that almost everybody was enjoying it, which made me go "Awww... I love WFMU!" So please, please archive it!
