First comment! Woo hoo!
  8:04pm
Laurie:

  8:09pm
andrew:

Woah love that Twinkle
  8:09pm
pseu:

hi kids - welcome back laurie!!
  8:11pm
Laurie:

Awwww, thanks. I was at Mates of State last week laughing at the kids try to clap in time to "These Days." That is not a song made for hand clapping, kiddos.
  8:14pm
pseu:

givin'' it the ol campfire try i guess...
  8:20pm
Laurie:

The worst part was this pudgy short guy in a... I don't know, a short brim hat? Like, a commie Fidel hat or something, it was a stupid hat is what I'm trying to say, okay? So, this guy was trying to flirt with these three our four girls. I don't know if he knew them, but it was truly tragic. He tried getting the girls to dance with him, and he attempted to twirl each of the girls, and he failed epically. Because only rich girls take cotillion classes, okay?

Anyway, it was pretty annoying. He wouldn't shut up, and I really wanted to flick that stupid hat off his head, but they had my favorite beer. So I was content to just grumble internally or whatever.

miss buxley:

wuzzzzup pseu??? i ADORE gordon lightfoot,,hes mellow,,,,,=)=)=) PEACE
  8:36pm
Laurei:

Oh, miss buxley. You would. You would.

Okay, I was in Minneapolis during Pride Week one time. And Bob Mould was going to play. Silly me and my friends showing me around the town assumed Bob was going to play last. He probably looked at the lineup and said, "Yeeeeeeeaaaaahhh... I'm not waiting around to listen to this crap," and he decided to go first. SMOOTH MOVE, BOB. Smooth move. It was basically poor man's Melissa Ethridge/Indigo Girls all over the place. Bad news. The night was salvaged though!! But that's another story.

I'm super jealous I won't be able to be at ATP in person. I will probably skip a Hercules and Love Affair DJ set to stay home and listen to it. I don't need to see the dude from Hercules and Love Affair spin records or whatever is going to go on there.
  8:38pm
Andrew:

Hey pseu thanks for getting me through my chem homework!
  8:46pm
miss buxley:

i know i'm riskin this post but i NEVER go to discount stores,,,,
  8:47pm
pseu:

  8:54pm
Laurie:

  8:54pm
miss b.:

  9:00pm
hfox:

i'm pretty sure guitar hero includes war pigs and search and destroy, i don't think that sucks, eh?
  9:05pm
randy in NC:

Gak, Jackson Browne. When I was in college, all the girls were gaga over him. Me I preferred Sparks and Roxy Music. Girls tended to get driven away by that. I found Metal Machine Music was a great way to clear out a party. I guess that's why I listen to FMU...
  9:05pm
andrew:

Yelling with laser sound effects
  9:05pm
daniel:

Hey! You must be as old as me.
I hated all that Bostyx shit in high school too.
  9:08pm
Drew:

I hated it in high school, but I like it now. Well, Boston at least. The first album.
  9:09pm
hfox:

pseu, why so dang defensive? ps, i hate boston, foreigner, and styx
  9:09pm
listener paul:

pseu = hawt
i swear
  9:10pm
randy in NC:

Boston, Foreigner, Styx... Maybe it was because AOR radio played the same 50 songs over and over and over and over for about 5 years from maybe 1975 on.
  9:10pm
Laurie:

I listened to mostly PJ Harvey and Cocteau Twins in high school. Most of my friends were into Tori Amos. I also had a few "Mansonite" friends. I don't know.
  9:11pm
Jim:

Comment and something to think about re: Frampton Comes Alive.... I think we can all agree that it was THE LP that put him on the map, right? Before that he was a little-known session player, had a band called Camel, whatever. So my question is this: if Frampton Comes Alive is the LP most people heard as their introudction to him, then why is it the audience on the LP seems to know the words to EVERYONE OF THESE SONGS? They weren't hits prior to this LP, it wasn't a "greatest hits" tour... What's the deal?
  9:13pm
Steve:

It sure did suck being bombarded on the radio by Jackson Browne and the Eagles in the 70s. Thank God I had my Bowie, T.Rex, and Lou Reed records at the time. Great playlist by the way.
  9:15pm
randy in NC:

Actually Frampton comes alive was from '76, and he had been touring heavily throughout the earlier '70s. I saw him with Humble Pie as the opening act for Derek and the Dominoes at the Fillmore East in '70 or '71.
  9:15pm
Laurie:

Oh, I took a long time getting into this Salteens album. The cover is super emo and misleading. I love it.
  9:16pm
listener paul:

mott the hoople
pls play; haven't heard in yrs.
exception or rule?
  9:17pm
randy in NC:

Yeah Bowie, T-Rex, Velvets. Any thing with a black and white cover picture was good...
  9:17pm
Jim:

Fair enuff re: Frampton, he toured a lot, but it doesn't answer the question how THOUSANDS of people at this show knew these songs inside out.
  9:20pm
Jim:

Aside to Frampton Comes Alive. A little known fact is that the opening act on this tour was a band called Natural Gas headed by ex-Badfinger guitarist Joey Molland.
  9:29pm
randy in NC:

Wiki says it's the 4th best selling live album of all time after Garth Brooks, Springsteen, and the Eagles.
  9:37pm
Andrew:

I'm a Jars of Clay fan from way back
  9:38pm
Jim:

I have absolutely no comment to that fact. Just another layer of sadness in the regret pit I'm baking.
  9:38pm
pseu:

I'd like to speak with you about Jesus....
  9:39pm
jim:

Jesus? Was he in Spiritualized?
  9:40pm
Andrew:

Ya, all I heard back in my formative years was Christian rock. Never could bring myself to denounce Jars of Clay.
  9:46pm
Jim:

Another fake "live" recording: Benny & The Jets.
  9:47pm
Laurie:

The only good thing about the '08 VMAs was listening to those German kids from Tokio Hotel talk. Foreigners talk funny!
  10:04pm
doron:

can ya pick up pseu? monticello calling
  10:06pm
knowfish:

  10:09pm

  10:11pm

How many Randy's like Glam rock and doesn't that go well with the name?
  10:12pm

  10:14pm
knowfish:

There's a capitol H in rehearsal, in rehab, & H
  10:18pm
Andrew:

My friend Deirdre likes this one.
  10:19pm
john:

Well, I was never in Spacemen 3, though I did love them dearly at the time. I love this Brown Submarine record at this time. Bob's never sounded better. Last night I just went to see friends play; my month as Temporary West Coast Correspondent is coming to an end.
  10:22pm
pseu:

cagey!!!
  10:24pm
tim:

urgh
  10:30pm
Laurie:

You know, I would like to have Jay Brannan as my gay boyfriend. I need to replace my old one, Byron. He moved to Paris. :'(

I hope he enjoys making out with girls in a platonic manner.
  10:34pm
john:

I get that a lot. An old girlfriend back when Spacemen 3 were still together used to call me Secret Squirrel. Ironically, it turned out that it wasn't so much that I didn't tell her stuff; she just didn't listen.
  10:37pm
pseu:

acch, please, it's typical...
  10:40pm
listener paul:

ah, high school. reminds me of the time the sheriff called my house wanting to talk to me about this girl in my class who i didn't know liked me well enough to, uh well, have the sheriff call me when she ran away from home. you know?
  10:41pm
listener paul:

  10:48pm

  10:51pm
toni d.:

pseu lets do lunch,,my treat
  10:54pm
pseu:

Oh, I'll be busy for the next uhhh, 30,000 lunchtimes.
  10:56pm
bartelby:

Ugh, this guy squeezes in next to me, not obese but his knees are apart like he's in stirrups. So I am squashed up against the barrier behind the driver, then he reaches his arm right across my face and grabs the pole to my left, so I can't even read my book. This is for the entirety of a fairly long trip. Then I stop at Wallgreens and someone with a gum emergency has to cut in front of me
  10:56pm
marcus:

I'm glad to discovered The Dodos and Inquiet in your show. Thanks! WFMU = <3
  10:59pm
john:

Oh, (putting on one of my other disguises) if it makes you feel better, and i hope it does, we haven't avoided the next great depression. We've just avoided it for this week.
  11:08pm
Andrew:

You wouldn't get any bagels, tho...
  3:00am
brother sister records:

Ajkm:

Running on Empty is classic OBA (older brother album). I was at a wedding once, and he was a guest, but oddly neither James nor Livingston Taylor showed up. No Linda R., either, or any member of the Eagles.

PS I live in the Hilton in Al Ain, UAE.
