Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from May 10, 2024 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Franco Twinkie:

I like it too! But much to my ever lasting shame, in 1971 when I was fifteen years old, this stoner in my English class was taunting me because he knew I liked The Grateful Dead, "Mark Farner is a better guitar player than Jerry Garcia any day." I had enough, so we got into a heated debate. Soon the whole class, stopped what they were doing including the teacher to watch these two idiots go toe to toe.

My logic was no better than his, but I won because no one can yell louder than me.

Fifty three years later, I can honestly say Grand Funk Railroad didn't get the respect they were due back in those prehistoric times.

Howdy, Uncle Michael! Nice tunes today, as always. Johnny Cash just finished up a week as CLAY PIGEON's ARTIST of the WEEK. A unique artist, to be sure. I thought that WEST, BRUCE and LAING song was MOUNTAIN, but pretty close. As for the "Are You Ready, Eddy?" by ELP, I skipped that one whenever I played the "TARKUS" album. Fun, but I liked Keith's more serious side a lot better. As for MEDESKI, MARTIN & WOOD, please play more of them in the future. So good. OK, I'll step down from my soapbox now! Trios, being your theme today, is a cool idea. Got some vintage CREAM?
