The last place I saw with a train like that was at Ross's Corner in Sussex Co. NJ, named the Chatterbox Drive-In. It closed about 5 years ago after operating for about 15. Other than the model railroad it had a classic car motif, played the Star Spangled Banner nightly, and was frequented weekly by bikers. I'm sure Field Marshal Ken could tell you about it. Narrow menu selection, but not bad.

I don't think the toy train brought the orders like another place I've been.

chatterbox had a full-sized dragster inside. and the hostess at the end had downs syndrome and was charming as all get out. that corner of real estate got so valuable you can't blame the family for selling.
  6:24pm
Listener Robert:

I'm sure there are plenty of places one could eat lunch, look out the window and see real trains go by. Instead of an attraction, they probably consider it an eyesore and maybe ear-sore.

I've eaten in that row too. Very easy to intend to go into one of them and accidentally wind up in another -- but just as good anyway. And yes, the light show for birthdays. And the guy beckoning us in as we passed -- and wound up going in! It pays to advertise.

Mr. White's great at this. He actually made me feel uncomfortable for the guy who was just him in another voice. Like the way Jerry Lewis acted an embarrassed silence in "The Nutty Professor" after the juice wore off. He really conveyed that sense; it's an art.

Know who else can either stink up the stage or be really captivating like that? Ventriloquists. The technical part is hard enough, but then developing an act to make you sympathize with either the dummy or the ventriloquist (because the dummy torments hir) -- that's something.
