More of that might be good. @ the end when Skawt did the King Crimson they broke with the superimposition effects & all... & if there's a way to really Synch the Audio stream with the online Vimeo to watch ...well, it would end one kind of surrealism in the experience. But might be good...

I don't think people realize how huge Bing was and is:Bing Crosby has sold close to one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world. He may be the biggest selling recording artist of all time. Only The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson can rival Bing’s sales figures. Bing had sold 200 million records by 1960 and the figure had doubled by 1980.

I definitely see that. i.e. YouTube that was intended to crush mainstream media because it had substance and wasn't trying to fear monger or manipulate the viewer into buying something. Somewhere along the way "be your own brand" became a runaway train of arrogance and entitlement

Of course - many huge ironies in what has happened with our Media & Corporations.
I think of what Michael Pollans says about our Food situation :
It may be the Ma & Pa farm on the label still ...but that's far indeed from what is actually happening in the can & how it got there anymore.
You can 'self-publish' - but only thru the narrowest bottlenecks of the hugest Oligarchies owned by the richest Monopoly Crapitalists that have ever existed in Human History. (& so you will not own it - or be promoted - much less actually compensated.) Not even the Robber Barons controlled our very Identities & Communities. The bitterest sort of irony in that the Interwebz - developed by tax-funded government - were supposed to Decentralize everything for us !
In other words - More & More is owned by Fewer & Fewer as perhaps the central fact of out time.

Morrissey was always notably uncharitable in opinions about other Artists ...okay, a lot of Artists are like that - being so definite about what their own Expression is about. It's too bad cause of course TheSmiths meant a lot to a lot of people in very positive ways.

Profit Motive is essentially our Society's primary Religion. Is is worshipped about all other Values - be they Human, Environmental or Creative. That's the problem with that. I think of it as Poltics is where our Ideals collide with the Game of Power. & generally @ 90°. Obviously, the Game of Power & the Profit Motive are inseparable.
I'm not such a Marxist I don't think people should have the Profit from their own Labor &/or Ideas. But that's not really what he meant by Capital in fact. Capital is when someone else Profits off your Labor & Ideas off the top. & that's sure what's happening... Or, as MLK said - we too often have Socialism for the very rich, & rugged Individualism for the working & the poor.
