February 25, 2024: For Petra
This Sunday, I honor our good friend, who died last week after a long battle: missing her warmth, and her welcoming open heart - Münster is a lonelier place without her. This one's for her, and for her dear Peter.
And we celebrate two birthdays: Maryanne Amacher, an American composer, working in the field of otoacoustic emissions, in which the ears themselves produce audible sound; and the wonderful wonderful Katz - Fred, that is - who was an early exponent of jazz cello.

...the danger I often think with Algebra being that as your Equations become Formulas & always longer - you can forget what real Quantity any Letter was supposed to be standing for in there - &/or why. (What happened with, say, Terence McKenna's 'TimeWave' trip, ferinstance...)

It makes excellent technical sense to prefer headphones (as transducers they're capable of delivering a frequency response and low distortion level most speakers don't even dare dream of) – and on top of that, I have some unreasonably good headphones right here – but in general I just prefer listening to music via loudspeakers. Huh.
