Two observations about this track:
1. Once you get away from the overplayed Kool & The Gang tracks, it's obvious how GREAT they are.
2. I'm pretty sure Beastie Boys sampled this somewhere on Paul's Boutique, the line about, "Lay it on me now. Not so hard."
Avatar 10:30pm

People take regular opportunities to say the "did everything Fred did...backwards...heels" thing, but as much as I love Ginger and her performances with Fred (and elsewhere), which are wonderful, well beyond just creditable, showcasing immense and suited talent, that thing....well, it just ain't so.

a store i worked in in the 90s a fairly regular, friendly customer started making little barking noises and such then went full-on yelping, collapsed by the door, which was pre-safety glass- hit his head against it 'till it broke into long sharp spikes which he clenched his hands around...woman with 2 children ran to the back of the store, coworker's eyes bulging out, i said call the cops and i went to try to subdue him and get his hands away from the glass but he was already calming down.

there's a speed trap in highland ny -2 lanes downhill. should be 45mph; easy to comfortably take it at 55...but it's 25mph. it's a curve, so easy for the hyenas to catch people.

they're predators.

About 25 years ago a diabetic friend of mine had a middle of night reaction, crashed himself out his apartment window, luckily first floor, and ran down the street and frenzy-banged on someone's door. A couple of young guys arriving at the home included one who had a vague recognition of my friend from years earlier high school. Cops came, but somehow the actual condition and situation was figured out, and that recognition had given a lucky pause to everything so cops just didn't react as if it was a high-danger PCP episode or some such.

i don't know, but he had either a significant type 2 diabetes or a particularly bad hypoglycemia, had let his blood sugar get very low since the night before and the first thing he ate was a rice dream bar or something. spiked his sugar.

Same friend of mine had a reaction in a restaurant with a group of us and his gun fell out on the floor when he collapsed -- a Glock-ish handgun; don't remember if it was from belt or shoulder holster -- and I put it on the table so it wouldn't be kicking around and alarming anyone. Another guy with us tucked it in his own belt so it wasn't just a 'settin' there to be seen by responders. The gun's owner had the firearm for protection, not for villainy, but I always wondered how many other patrons saw this and did their OWN wondering.

A couple years ago I read a piece whose author assigned substantial importance to My Way as done anthemically by Frank, claiming many, many American men felt or wanted to feel & claim its assertiveness and defiance -- it was their OWN anthem.
Well...sure, maybe that's so. But it seemed a stretch of assumption. Not sure of the evidence.
